Chapter 1: Ending It All

Irene was an orphan.She grew up in a little orphanage out of town.Even though her life was
lonely and cold, the girl never stopped dreaming and working hard.She studied day and night to
become the topper in her class.In the end, her hard work paid off and she got a scholarship in
one of the prestigious colleges in the world.The one where only the elites went to.

That's when she met Maya.Maya was friendly and caring even though they were total
strangers.The girl invited her to eat lunch with her and before they knew it, they were already
best friends.

Irene felt happy.She finally made a good friend who didn't care about her background.She felt
like she was getting closer and closer to her dream.

Jason came along after a few months.He was always flirting with Irene but the girl tried her best
to stay away from him.But she couldn't do it for so long.Jason was everything a girl would want
in an ideal boyfriend.Handsome.Popular.Enthusiasm.She eventually fell for him.

Irene loved them.She gave them all the love she couldn't get.She put them first.

But everything came crashing down in her final year in college when she decided to surprise
her boyfriend but found him on the bed with her best friend Maya.

Irene was heartbroken and she didn't know what to do.She heard them talking.Talking about
her.She was nothing to them.Nothing but a joke.

The world was so unfair that she just wanted to give up.So she decided to end it all but she
didn't want to go just like that.Not before she takes her revenge.Irene took out her phone and
recorded her boyfriend and best friend.She captured everything on camera.



Jason and Maya came from prestigious families.They were both heirs to their family business
but Irene knew a perfect way to destroy that.Who would want to hand over a business to
someone the whole world hates?

Irene was going to make the world hate them.She recorded a suicide note as she walked to the
bridge.Now she had no will to live.

But before she went, she wanted to see Jason one more time.She wanted to see his panicked
face.She wanted to see his fear when he found out that his future was over.

She sent him a text and the video before she got on the bridge.She waited for him patiently.This
was her time to play him.

Jason came to her like his tail was on fire.

Irene POV

"So you finally came" I said bitterly, looking at my boyfriend. Or should I say, ex-boyfriend?
"Maya isn't with you?" I looked around.

"Such a shame...I wanted to talk to her too before I leave, "

"Irene, did you fucking lose your mind? What the hell are you doing!?" Jason panted out.

"Yes, I fucking lost my mind, Jason! How else did you expect me to react to what you did to
me?!"

"Get down from the edge! Don't be so childish! “

"Childish?! Do you think I'm fucking childish?! Fuck you, Jason! Fuck you and that bitch!
You're all monsters! "



"It was just a joke, Irene"

"Don't say my name, you monster! Don't say my name with your disgusting mouth!" I cried and
furiously wiped my tears.

"It was just a bet.Don't blow this out of proportion”

Just a bet? How dare this bitch "Is my life a joke to you?"

I took in a shaky breath.

"How could you say that with a straight face? Don't you feel any shame? "

"Irene..."

"I was just a student, Jason.I just wanted to g-graduate and get a good j-job...I just wanted to be
happy...

"I dug my nails into the palm of my hands.I could feel them cut into the skin and blood pouring out of it.

"W-Why did you do that? I trusted you...I gave you m-myself...but you betrayed me, "

"I'm sorry...I didn’t plan that to happen...I didn't know you're that traditional and it'd be a big deal..."
Jason sighed.

My face scrunched up in disgust.

How did I fall in love with this person? He still doesn't see anything wrong with what he did.

"The whole college knew, Jason! All of them knew that I was your plaything except me! All of those
moments I spent with you and her were all fake! I was just a puppet to you! Was making fun of me that
amusing to you?! Just how sick is your mind?!



"You should have known, Irene! It was obvious! How can I seriously consider a future with an orphan! "
I flinched.

"You don't even have a last name! Do you think my family would agree? Did you really think I was that
stupid?! "

"FUCK YOU, JASON! "

I screamed at the top of my lungs.I couldn't take it anymore.

"It's not my fault that I'm an orphan, you sicko! Not everyone is born in a mansion like you are but that
doesn't make us any less human.You're not above us! Heck, you're a disgusting worm compared to us!
Your mind is that sick!" I panted out.

"You'll regret what you did to me, Jason.I'll destroy everything you have before I go! " I took out my
phone.

"The video is in this, " I waved it around.

"The video of you and Maya talking and laughing about what you did to me.I'll make that family of yours
that you're so proud of, hate you to the guts.I'll take everything away from you before I go, "

"Irene, please listen to me—"

"I did, Jason.I listened to you like a fool all this time.I worked hard to earn a name so your family would
accept me.I worked day and night.I even skipped meals and you were watching me do all that and
laughing behind my back, "

"I didn't tell you to do all that! " He defended.



I seriously want to drag him down with me when I jump but I won't do that because I don't want this
fucker to come with me to the afterlife.

"You disgust me, Jason.All the filth in this world is nothing compared to what's in your mind,"

I clenched my fists.

How did I believe this person? Is it because I had no one who loved me that I just believed him so
easily? Is this all my fault? Maybe I was too careless.

Maybe I was too greedy.

Maybe I'm a joke to all of them...

I have no hope left...

Did I deserve all these struggles? "Irene, give me the phone and get off the edge, "

"N-No, "

"Irene...We can talk about this like adults—"

"I don't want to talk to you! "

I screamed, my vision blurring from the tears and I blinked continuously so I could see his face.

I wanted to see the dread in his eyes.

I wanted to see him destroyed like he destroyed me.

"Give me the phone, Irene.That video will ruin my life “ Achuckle slipped past my lips.

"Well, that's kind of what I'm aiming for.You destroyed mine and now I'll make it even “



"Irene...please,"

"It feels so good to see you begging," I smiled.

"I believed you, Jason.I gave you everything but you treated me like a j-joke...You made me feel
worthless...Now you and your bitch have to pay for it, " I clicked on the upload button.

The video was on social media in a second.

"Give me the phone, Irene!"

"There's nothing to do now’’ I dropped the phone.

"It's already on the internet.Say goodbye to your reputation, Jason”

"You bitch!"

My eyes widened.

I felt the earth pull me down.Did I jump? Or slip? Or did he push me? I don't know.I don't care.I felt so
calm.

The air against my skin felt so cool.I felt like flying.I didn't say goodbye to anyone.

Oh, I don't have anyone to say goodbye to....I gasped when the water hit me.

It was painful but it wasn't anything compared to the pain inside my heart.I was exhausted.

Everything was getting dark.

The faint reflection of city lights on the top was disappearing as I sunk further and further into the dark.



I felt the air leave my lungs and water fill in.I felt my head spin.I was losing consciousness.I guess this
is how my life ends.

So lonely.

I hope I won't be lonely after this.

"I told you to shut up!"

I flinched at his voice.

"I'll shut up if you tell me the truth or I'll keep assuming whatever I want, "

"I don't care what you think about her, "

"Really? Then why are you so worked up over it? " I raised a brow.

"You act so rough for some who doesn't care, "

"Think whatever the hell you want, "

"Alright, then I'm going to assume she's someone who used to sleep with you.You know, taking care of
your rut like what we're doing.And then you caught feelings? "

"Shut up.You sound stupid, "

"Were your feelings not returned? Or was she your lover?"

Rhysand's grip on my hand tightened.

"Oh...so I'm right...She was your lover...Did she cheat on you? Or betray you—"

A growl slipped past Rhysand's lips.



"Shut your mouth, "

He said, his voice so deep and dominant.

I couldn't help but obey him.

It felt like a huge powerful beast was hovering on top of me.

So dominant it made my head spin.I bared my neck instinctively.

It just came to me like a survival skill.I had this overwhelming urge to submit to him.I couldn't even look
at Rhysand.

It didn't feel like him.

His grip on my hands was too tight.

His aura was different.

It felt like my mouth was sealed shut.

I whimpered.

My body couldn't take his dominance.

I was out of breath.

I couldn't breathe.

What's going on?
