Ning Shu chuckled. “You’re already angry? If it had been Chu Xiaoran, would you be angry like this? No matter how unbearable and vicious Chu Xiaoran’s words are, you’d still endure it. However, you’re getting angry just because I said one sentence? Xia Xiaoman, you’re simply relying on the fact that I’ve had feelings for you for so many years.”
“Furthermore, you’ve betrayed me, yet you’re still appearing in front of me so confidently like you’re in the right? Don’t you feel any shame? Or is it because you feel like you’re the only one for me, that whenever you turn around, I’d be waiting in the same place for you?” Ning Shu didn’t bother to be polite with her words. “Your skin sure isn’t just a normal level of thick.”
Xia Xiaoman’s face was deathly pale as she stared at Ning Shu in shock. She bit her lips hard. “You’re not Big Brother Wenlang. There’s no way Big Brother Wenlang would say something like this.”

“Scram. I don’t want to see you again. If you have even a bit of shame left, don’t come look for me again.” Ning Shu felt like talking to Xia Xiaoman was a waste of breath. In Xia Xiaoman’s heart, Xu Wenlang was a man that would gently comfort her, who could understand her suffering and helplessness.
So when Ning Shu behaved just a little bit nastier, it caused Xia Xiaoman who had gotten used to Xu Wenlang’s quiet concern to feel like she had been betrayed.
Xia Xiaoman stood up, her face deathly pale. She took a deep breath, then said, “Big Brother Wenlang, I know that you hate me, but everything I did was for the sake of resolving the incident. My original intention was to prevent your firm from suffering any hinderance. It’s really dangerous to oppose Chu Xiaoran. No matter what, I don’t want you to be hurt.”
Ning Shu didn’t even bother to look up. “Are you done? If you are, please leave.”
Xia Xiaoman bit her lips, then turned and left. When she got to the door, she glanced back at Ning Shu, only to see that he hadn’t even looked up. Her brows furrowed and she left.
If she had even a bit of shame, she shouldn’t come again. In reality, Xia Xiaoman had no idea that every single time she came to find Xu Wenlang, it increased the danger that Xu Wenlang was in. How could Chu Xiaoran possible be willing to see his woman go visit another man whenever she had free time?
And this man was even Xia Xiaoman’s old lover. Her intention was definitely to rekindle old flames. For the sake of preventing any mishaps, the best method was to make Xu Wenlang disappear.
These things would never occur to Xia Xiaoman and she’d even sometimes use Xu Wenlang to provoke Chu Xiaoran.
Encountering such a troll of a person sure was some fate.
Chu Xiaoran kept a gang of people under his command, probably specially for the sake of dealing with people who didn’t listen to him. Ning Shu considered things, then hired a few bodyguards as well. They were all retired soldiers. She had them protect the people in the law firm.
Chu Xiaoran was the type to be aloof and view the law lightly as if there was nothing he couldn’t do, like there were always people clearing the path for him respectfully like he was an emperor.
In regards to this, Ning Shu just laughed. Of the four classes – scholars, farmers, artisans, and merchants – Chu Xiaoran was actually nothing more than a merchant, so why did it seem like he was the most powerful existence in the world? This was some ridiculous bug.
People that had wealth equivalent to that of an entire nation only faced the fate of being slaughtered once they got fat enough. Furthermore, Chu Xiaoran hadn’t gotten powerful enough to get free from the control of this land.
Ning Shu could only borrow the momentum.
She fought quite a lot of additional free lawsuits, helping people who had no other means to file a complaint. This allowed her firm’s reputation to increase again.
The newspapers reported that she was a philanthropist. The newspapers didn’t write about her like she was some earth-shattering existence, she only appeared in the news occasionally and was mentioned in a very subtle way. Overexaggerated articles would only spark backlashes and doubt.
Ning Shu knew that the people assisting her were helping to promote her. Meanwhile, what she needed to do was work hard on what she should be doing.
