I was already awake, but I kept myself from opening my eyes. I was lying on my side, facing in his
direction. 1 knew he was probably staring at me, like he’d been doing these past two mornings, and
also because his breath was fanning against my skin.

"Come here." His arms coiled around my waist, and he pulled me toward him, placing me on his lap.

now. "I had to visit hell and take energy for my demons."

"Will it take you a whole day?" I knew this process, as Lucien had mentioned it a lot.

"It depends on the souls from which I could draw energy. I will be in hell most of the time. The only time
I will be in Kalmerus is when I deposit the energy on our globe so it can be distributed to my demons.
But after that, I’ll be here."

I smiled at him and nodded my head, but my heart was in turmoil. I wanted to ask about Nyneve, but I
didn’t want him to think that I didn’t trust him.

"Take this." He handed me a black thing that resembled a clam. "Open it."



I slowly opened it, and my mouth dropped open at the sight inside. The bottom of the clam was like a
mirror, and it showed me and Lucius in bed at the moment, like the view was from the top.

He rested his forehead against mine. "I'm a demon, Patrea. I kept thinking overnight that, at some

He pulled away from my forehead and met my eyes.

"I’m not strong when it comes to temptation." He admitted.

was part of his life. "If you come home to me untouched by Nyneve or any other she demons, or

It was the only reward I could think of for his honesty and his desire not to touch Nyneve, which was

who allowed Nyneve’s entrance into my tower.
