Zhou Hengyang flopped into the passenger seat like a fish out of water, pale and listless.
He shut the door, silencing the whipping wind as it lashed at the car. It only seemed to increase the sound of his violent heartbeat in his ears.
Zhou Hengyang could feel his heart racing, threatening to burst out of his chest. He struggled with the feeling, pressing a hand against his heart. He could not breathe; his lungs felt like lead, a clawed hand viciously squeezing the air out of his lungs. The pain was torture.
Had anyone had the chance to glimpse his face, they would have noticed his unnaturally pale parlor, white as a sheet and cold as ice. Despite having his eyes on the road, Xu Xiaoxiao sensed the changes in his cousin, even as the darkened car made it difficult to discern Zhou Hengyang’s exact emotional state.
