“What happened?” Elaina had a strong sense of unease, and even her heart was beating

“Something happened to the boy who came in the afternoon.”

blame Dr. Gainsford?”

Joyce almost blurted out, “Are you out of your mind?”

“I don’t care. Anyway, what happened to my son was all your fault. You have to be responsible.” The
woman seemed to be determined to have Elaina take the blame. She did not let go of Elaina, no matter
what.
