Chapter 7: He laughed with anger

A month later, Sophie was discharged from the hospital. But it was a bleak day for her.

No one was there to pick her up.

Her parents did not care about her, to the point that they had already forgotten her whole existence.

Her ex-husband had never loved her and she had been living in dire straits for the past three years.

On top of that, she didn't even have a single friend who can pick her up from the hospital.

Zac knew the situation she was in.

So he drove to the hospital early that morning, however, he hesitated at the door.

He wasn't sure whether he should go in or not.

After what happened at their last encounter, he didn't know why he still felt a little sorry for her.

He thought that there was a huge possibility that Sophie had only told him her child wasn't his out of
spite.

He knew better how much she loved him, so how could she cheat on him whom she had loved deeply.

‘Sophie said that the man in those photos was her psychiatrist. Was there something wrong with her
mental health? How come she never told me about this?’ As for the child in her belly, he knew that she
thought about telling him about it.

He could still remember that one afternoon, she asked him over the phone if they could remain married
if she can prove her innocence.

‘She wanted to tell me the news of her pregnancy, right?’ However, at that time, he was too confused to
give her a clear answer.

In addition, there were too many uncertain points about Edith’s car accident and he needed time to sort
them out.

At the same time, he was still confused on how she ended up in his bed.

He sighed to himself as he contemplated, ‘If Sophie was indeed innocent, how will I face her again?’

Every time he thought of this possibility, he felt his face burned with shame and his heart ached.

That is why he had always suppressed this idea for the time being until he was able to clear everything.

Just as he was about to open the door of his car, he spotted Sophie at the exit of the hospital.

Her legs were still in bad shape and she was limping as she walked down the stairs.

Beside her was a man who seemed quite familiar.

Sophie held onto one of his arms as he held her bag in his other hand.

Zac saw the man whispered something in her ear and she burst into laughter.

Her laughter was one of pure joy and Zac could see serenity and pure trust reflected in her eyes as she
stared at the man.

The scene was an eyesore for him.

‘Damn it! That man was the one in the photo!’ His fingers were turning white as his grip tightened over
the steering wheel.

‘Sophie you really did well this time!’ He laughed angrily and the fury which was reflected in his eyes
was far more terrible than ever before.

At that same time, Edith also received a phone call informing her of Sophie's discharge from the
hospital.

She dialed a mysterious number and then ordered in a cool voice, "Everything goes according to
plan.Sophie is already out of the hospital. This time, make sure she won't ever survive!"

Tristan brought Sophie back to her rented apartment.

He was her psychologist and the only friend she could rely on.

He was a very trustworthy friend.

In these last three years, she had lived in pain and depression.

Whenever she felt that she couldn't hold on anymore and was about to surrender, she would go to a
psychiatrist to ask for counseling.

It was during those tough times that she met Tristan.

He helped her find a nanny and settled everything for her before leaving.

He had always been like this.

He was pleasant to talk with and was patient with her.

It was her greatest blessing to have met him all those years.

Sophie wanted to have a good sleep, but she didn't expect to receive a text message from her mother,
Bryanna.

Bryanna: [I heard you've been discharged from the hospital.Let's meet]

Sophie: [Do you want to visit me at my house?]

Bryanna: [I don't have time for a visit.Let's just meet up in a coffee shop. There are some things from
your grandmother that I want to give you.]

After that, Bryanna sent her the address of the coffee shop where she wanted to meet up.

The meet up place was a bit too far but had just been discharged from hospital.

She was still weak and it was inconvenient to walk since her legs were still in bad shape.

She hesitated for a while, but when she thought of her grandmother, she decided to go.

In that afternoon, she was beside the road, leaning on a crutch as she tried to hail a cab.

As soon as she got a ride, she rushed over to the coffee shop.

The sky was dark and was raining heavily that day.

The road was wet so Sophie slipped and accidentally fell down.

Fortunately, she was able to protect her stomach from the fall and nothing happened to her baby.

All she received was a strain on her legs and dirt in her clothes.

She struggled to stand up again and as she looked around, she found that the street was deserted and
the coffee shop her mother mentioned was nowhere to be found.

The place was too remote and desolate that even pedestrians were scarce.

Just as she was about to call her mother, she suddenly felt something pricked her neck and she lost
consciousness.
