Chapter 36: Life Imprisonment

Zac was arrested for homicide.He confessed to his crime and did not mention Sophie .The prosecution
filed a lawsuit against him, and he was sentenced to life imprisonment.

Because of Zac's arrest, the Madden Industries’ company share price plunged instantly.

The shareholders withdrew their funds one after another.

The company called for loans.

Zac's father could not endure it anymore and suffered a stroke that ended with him being hospitalized.

In just a few months, Madden Industries, a multinational enterprise, went bankrupt in a flash.

Zac was sentenced to life imprisonment.

He dropped his appeal and accepted the court's decision wholeheartedly.

Even if there was a chance to reduce his sentence, he would have to serve at least 20 years in prison.

His company, even if he would have the chance to get out earlier, the future of Madden Industries
would still be completely ruined.

For several months, Sophie had been locked up ina temporary rented apartment.

The knife wound on her face has been properly treated by the doctor and was gradually recovering.

The doctor said it was not serious, as long as several minor skin grinding operations were performed in
the future to not leave any scars.

Even if there were shallow traces, she can cover them slightly with foundation, and you can't see them
at all.



The wound on her face hasn't healed yet, so she hasn't gone out.

Except for the day when Zac was sentenced by the court, she went there and saw the now
impoverished and exhausted Zac, but he didn't look at her from beginning to end, even a glance.

He turned his back on his father and his responsibility in the company.He ignored his bright future just
for Sophie .

But, was it really worth it? Sophie seemed to be thinner than the last time he saw her.

There were still some scars on her face, but it was much better now.

Zac, on the other hand, must have suffered a lot inside the penitentiary.

"Sophie, let's divorce."

He looked at her with calm and gentle eyes.

The person in front of was now inferior, unlike before, when he was a proud and distinguished
businessman.



Sophie was stunned.

She didn't expect him to say that.

She recalled that after she got together with him, he asked her to sign a marriage agreement, and now
they were still husband and wife.

"Zac, is it really worth it? I can go and talk to the police"

"I want a divorce! listen to me.Although the company is bankrupt and all its properties have been
sealed off, I still have three properties in New Zealand, the United States and Canada.They are
currently registered in the name of my friend.I have arranged for him to come to U.S.He will contact you
later and transfer the three properties to your name.In addition, I will ask him to transfer you a sum of
money, about 200 million dollars.These should be enough for you to live the rest of your life without
worrying about food and clothing.There is only so much I can do for you now.I hope you don't refuse
me." He looked at her teary eyed but still wore a smile.

well.Take good care of yourself and find someone who love you.I wish you happiness."

After he finished talking, he stood up and got ready to leave, not giving her the chance to talk back.

"Zac"

She called him from behind, and through the glass, he heard her voice come softly.

"Sophie, thank you.Also, don't come to see me again in the future.We shall never see each other
again…”



Two days later, met Zac's friend, Lincoln.

He introduced himself, saying that he was a classmate of Zac, and the two of them were close friends.
