The mother-daughter duo headed out together. Just as the burly man was about to ring the doorbell, he lowered his hand when he saw both of them
emerge. “Mrs. Rivers, Ms. Rivers.”
“Mr. Cornelius,” Caitlin greeted the burly man.
His name was Keenan Cornelius and was a subordinate of Silas.

Joyce replied, “My dad is in the hospital.”

home.

“By the way, Ms. Rivers, how is Stanley doing now? Is he all right?” Keenan probed further.
After giving it some thought, Joyce shook her head as she replied, “I don't know. He was unconscious
when they loaded him into the ambulance. Dad hasn't called us since then.”
“I see.” Keenan nodded in acknowledgment before ushering them forward. “We'll focus on it later. For
now, Ms. Rivers, why don't you and Mrs. Rivers get into the car?”
“About that...” Joyce bit her lip in hesitation.
