“You’ve misunderstood.” Dexter extinguished his cigarette and sat up straight. He saw her signaling
gaze and smiled bitterly in exasperation.

“What have I misunderstood? They’re about to kiss you on the lips!”

“You said you would only let me kiss your lips for the rest of your life.”

She said everything in one breath with tears flickering, seeming utterly wronged.
