Chapter 845 - Be Happy

Evelyn walked in through the side gate of the manor. It was not until she was out of sight that Sheffield finally got into his car.
When she entered the manor, she saw Carlos standing under one of the garden lamps.
Wearing only thin pajamas, Carlos stood with folded arms, expressionless, as he watched his daughter walk in.
Evelyn's heart skipped a beat. From where he stood, he could easily see Sheffield's car parked outside. 'Holy crap! Dad must have seen him, ' she thought to herself.
She took a deep breath and hugged him. "Dad, I'm sorry. I got too emotional earlier."
Carlos' waiting at the gate late at night for her melted away all her anger.
He sighed, "I thought you wouldn't come back."
"Then why are you here?" Evelyn asked playfully, leaning on his shoulder.
"I...I was taking a walk." That was the lamest excuse Carlos could come up with.
Evelyn chuckled. "He insisted that I come back home. Dad, he's a nice guy—"
"Did he brainwash you again?" Carlos interrupted her.
He didn't believe that Sheffield was the one who had asked her to come back to the manor. As far as Carlos knew, Sheffield was a cheater, who lied to Evelyn again and again.
Evelyn realized that as long as Sheffield was involved, Carlos would be too angry to talk to her. "Never mind, Dad. Let's go inside and get some rest."
She took her father's arm. They walked towards the villa slowly.
"Listen to me, Evelyn. Try to get along with Joshua Fan."
Evelyn didn't want to talk about it. "Dad, if you mention that again, I'll move into my apartment and stay there."
She had an apartment in the city, and she usually stayed there when she worked late into the night. She only came back to the manor when she got off work early.
"Fine. Let's talk about work."
Carlos sighed and said, "You just don't want to talk to me."
"Come on, Dad! I love you so much. You know it. From now on, I will try my best to get on well with Joshua, so that he can be your son-in-law one day. Are you satisfied?" Evelyn was playing with words.
She knew that Joshua was interested in Terilynn and wondered whether she could play matchmaker for the two.
If Joshua and Terilynn got married, he would be Carlos' son-in-law. And she wouldn't be breaking her promise that way.
"Yes, I am very satisfied."
Standing in the dark, Tayson looked at the father and daughter duo and thought to himself, 'Miss Huo, please be happy.'
Joshua had intended to tell Sheffield about Carlos Huo being Evelyn's father, but he remained busy for the next two days and forgot all about it when he met Sheffield again.
Sheffield had no idea that Carlos was his future father-in-law until the day the old man beat him up.
One day, Sheffield got a phone call from Joshua, telling him that Evelyn was seen holding a man's arm and entering a hotel room. He took off his white gown and rushed to the said hotel.
Along the way, Sheffield wondered who the man could be. Was it the same man in the picture on her phone?
He had thought that the man in the picture was one of Evelyn's late ex-boyfriends, but it looked like he was wrong.
What if he caught them in bed?
Sheffield's eyes turned red with anger. He was determined to punch the lights out of the man.
He drove fast and parked the car in the lot. Then, he picked up his laptop from the back seat and checked Evelyn's hotel check-in records.
Soon, he found out that they were in Room 1908.
He put down his computer and rushed to the 19th floor of the hotel.
When he rang the doorbell, a man opened the door. The man standing in front of him was indeed the man in the photo with Evelyn.
Jealousy took over all reasoning. Seeing the frown on the man's face, Sheffield was even more pissed. He seized the man's collar, gnashed his teeth and asked, "Where's Evelyn? Where is Evelyn?"
Carlos' face soured at his words. Without any hesitation, he raised his fist to punch Sheffield in the face.
Sheffield dodged the punch and quickly landed a punch in the man's face.
"What is happening here? Sheffield?!" Hearing the noise, Evelyn rushed out of the bedroom and was shocked to see Carlos and Sheffield fighting each other.
When Sheffield saw Evelyn coming out of the room, his eyes widened. Although she was properly dressed, she and the man were in the hotel room together! He looked into the man's eyes with blazing anger. "You dare touch my woman? Die!"
Sheffield punched the man in the face again, and received two in return. "Oh, you know kung fu, huh? Come on, then! I'm not afraid of you." He faced his opponent and balled his fists, ready to fight head-on.
Evelyn dashed to the doctor and began to pull him away from the fight. "Are you insane, Sheffield? Dad, let go of him! Dad!"
'Dad?' Sheffield froze. His hands went weak. "Wait… Wait a minute…Ow!" When his attention was diverted, Carlos took the chance and punched him hard in the face.
As soon as Carlos had opened the door, he had recognized Sheffield. He was fuming with rage at that moment and wanted to beat him to a pulp for endangering his daughter's life.
"Dad, stop it! Sheffield, why are you still standing there?" Evelyn exclaimed and grabbed Carlos' arm, her heart aching when she saw her father beat him up without mercy.
Sheffield reached out his arm to block Carlos' fist. "Is he your—?" he managed to ask Evelyn.
"He's my dad," she replied sullenly.
Sheffield looked at Carlos in stunned disbelief. "Dad?" he repeated.
Carlos' brows knitted even tighter, his eyes were as dark as ink. He raised his fist again to punch him.
At the sight of his fist, Sheffield came to his senses and greeted Carlos respectfully, "Dad— Sorry…Mr. Huo, it's nice to meet you."
Carlos cast a sidelong glance at Evelyn and said coldly, "Evelyn, let go of me. I'm gonna teach this boy a lesson today."
"Dad, look at his face! It's swollen already! Stop!" Evelyn was very anxious. How did Sheffield even know that she was here?
But Carlos didn't listen to her. He shook off her hand, pressed Sheffield against the floor and beat him up. "Didn't you say you were gonna kill me? Fight back now!"
Holding his head in his hands, Sheffield curled up on the floor. "I won't fight back. Even if you beat me to death, I can't fight back."
Carlos' martial arts skills were top notch. Each punch was powerful. Evelyn looked at the man on the floor, her heart aching. With reddened eyes, she pulled Carlos away and said, "Dad, please stop. He'll get seriously injured if you hit him again."
"Seriously injured?" Carlos asked. "If he gets seriously injured so easily, then he is a pussy. Why would you fall for a pussy like him?"
