RILEY, 1 I knew Nadia had been on the phone often with Zahra, but I dared not listen to their
conversation. It was enough that Nadia wasn’t pushing me to meet up with her. Because no matter how
many times I thought things over, I just couldn’t seem to accept what she just told me. My father was
not perfect, but I did look up to him.
He did everything for me, even the blood pact for Andrea, which was already extreme.
He did it to appease me.
It made me realize that I was my father’s son – he did everything I wanted so I would stay, to make up
for the lies he gave me.
In the same way, I was doing everything to make everyone in my life stay with me.
My thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the door, and I let my Beta come in together with his
mother, Katya.
I requested to meet Katya tonight just to have answers.
“Alpha,” Beta Dominic and Katya bowed their heads in respect.
“You can leave us, Beta,” I told Dominic, and he cocked his head to the side in submission before
leaving the room.
I asked Katya to sit down the moment the door closed, and she chose to sit by the couch adjacent to
my desk.
“How are you, Katya?” I asked her, clasping my hands together and resting them on my desk.
“I’ve been excellent, Alpha.

I’m glad you and the Luna have sorted out whatever was going on between you.
And congratulations on your pup!
” She beamed happily at me.
“Thank you.

” I nodded my head at her.
“Have you discussed the Luna Ceremony?
” “No.

There were many things that came when she came back.
Her pregnancy and another one, which was the reason I called for you.

I will tell you what I know, but to be honest, we were blind-sided too.” “What do you mean?
” I asked, my forehead creasing at her words.
“We had no idea why Zahra left, no idea why she left you.
And we were prohibited from discussing anything related to her and what we saw before and after she
left.

” “Of course.
I’ve been waiting for you to ask me after your father passed away.

Alpha, I still don’t understand why she left you when I’ve seen with my own eyes how she adored you.

back to his room and Zahra’s luggage to the storage room.
That night, the Alpha asked for help in putting you to bed.
I was pregnant then with Dominic.
I put you to sleep since Nicole was already having a hard time breastfeeding Sebastian at that time.
We did as we were told, but we were not allowed to ask questions about your mother.
A day prior to that, Zahra confided that they were finally getting a divorce.
For a long time, we knew of the fights and that they were not intimate for a period of time.
So we knew it was coming, but Zahra never discussed any third party on her side or the Alpha’s.
So when the news broke out that she left the Alpha for another man, I didn’t want to believe it.
Until we saw pictures of her with another man.
But no matter how many times I told myself that she had abandoned you, I couldn’t seem to believe it.

” She smiled, the motherly smile that she would always give me whenever I was sad or pissed off.She and Nicole were the only females I listened to.

” “I want to ask permission if I can meet Zahra.
Dominic told me where she’s living now.
And I was hoping I could visit her.

” I answered her in a firm voice.I hadn’t made up my mind if I would meet her or not, but the words just slipped off my mouth.
And instead of being agitated by my slipping off, I felt the exact opposite.
I felt like a burden was lifted off my chest.
Maybe it was a good idea to meet her.
Maybe I would find my own peace if I could finally face the female that started the turmoil within me.
Katya looked at me with her eyes still glistening with tears, but a wide motherly smile was plastered on
her face.
“It’s about time you met your mother, son.

” pogo I had no idea how Nadia arranged for this, but just two days after we talked about the gifts,
Timothy, one of my men, came to the packhouse with his van full of gifts.
And my fucking twenty-three-year-old self couldn’t hide the grin on my face.
I knew they were all for me.
And I was trying to hide my emotions inside, but Nadia’s and Jenny’s excitement was contagious.
“Luna, those are not yours.
You need to let the Alpha open it!
” Jenny blurted out as she giggled.
“I know!But just so you know, I have never seen so many gifts like this in my whole life!
So I’m sure my mate, my Alpha, and the love of my life will let me open one, or maybe all.
Right, babe?
” She turned around, licking her lips as she winked at me.
I just nodded my head, grinning widely at her with my hands on my hips before winking back at her.
I then shifted my gaze away from her to the gifts being transported to my office.
“Timothy, these were thoroughly checked on the border?
” I just wanted to make sure they didn’t budge on the security protocol just because it was an order
from their Luna.
“I personally checked on those.
All clear.
” Gamma Sebastian answered.
He and the Beta were helping carry the gifts as well.
“Wow!
This one is big!
” Jenny exclaimed, pointing to the one her mate was carrying “I’m guessing it’s a car you can drive,” I
answered.
I already saw a part of the wheel from the ripped part of the gift.“Oh, Goddess!
Can you imagine how much we can save with all these!
We don’t need to buy toys for our pup.
” Nadia exclaimed excitedly while clapping her hands, and I just shook my head, watching her with
amusement.
The night was already calm and everyone retired to bed.
Nadia and I were on the fourth floor at the Luna’s library.
We decided to have the gifts transferred here for more privacy and because Nadia wanted to spend
time in this place.
“It’s so cozy here.
” She scooted her body closer to mine before she covered her thighs with a fleece blanket.
We were sitting on the floor in front of the fireplace with a glass of rum in my hand while she was
drinking milk in a wine glass.
The warmth of the fire dancing around us and the sparks from her body were just too perfect.
I could live for moments like this.
with my arms around her, I rested my chin on her shoulder as I looked at the gifts piled high on the floor
beside us.
“Shall we start opening gifts?” I asked.
“Yes!
” She exclaimed excitedly before I let her go from my arms.
She turned around and clinked her wine glass with mine.
“Happy birthday, Alpha.
Let’s open your gifts.
” I chuckled because my birthday was too far ahead, but I let her be.
I sipped my drink while watching her enjoy her milk before we put our focus on the task ahead.
Nadia grabbed one gift and read the card attached to it.
“Happy 3rd birthday, dearest Riley!
Mommy loves you.
” She smiled at me before she handed me the box, and I placed it on the floor and slowly unwrapped it
with Nadia helping me out.
It was a sailor suit with a matching sailor hat and shoes, and a small anchor stuffed toy.
I bit my lower lip.
I couldn’t explain what I was feeling at the moment.
I smiled at my mate and put the gifts aside before nodding at her.“Next one.
” “Happy 8th birthday, little Alpha.
I miss you and I’m wondering if you can ask Dad if I can take you to a theme park at Harley City.
It will just be for a few hours, and I’m sure you will love all the rides and games there.

” By the fifth gift, Nadia was already bawling in tears.
She kept apologizing and explaining that it was her pregnancy that was making her emotional, but I
couldn’t blame her.
I was emotional too, I was just good at hiding it.I let my eyes scan the open gifts around us and those that we were yet to open as I listened to Nadia
read the rest of the cards in her hand.

She nodded her head before she tried speaking in between her sobs.

And it’s breaking my heart too.
” “The only time something can be healed beautifully is if it gets broken.
I will heal, Nadia.
I just want you to stay with me and help with my healing.

Every step of the way.” She answered in a soft voice, which was all I needed to hear.
As long as I have Nadia, I will learn how to forgive and move on.
