Suddenly, Nicole’s phone rang, and when she took a look at it, she saw that Jared was calling. She
swept her gaze across the time on the screen display, and there, she realized how late it was getting.

She answered the phone, and in an apologetic tone, she said, “I’m sorry, I lost track of time. We’re
almost done eating, and I’ll be home soon. Can you put Nolan and Lana to sleep first?”

“I’m downstairs,” Jared calmly said.

Nicole could not help but feel a little surprised. “What?”

“Yeah. I just got done with work, so I came to pick you up,” Jared continued gently.



“Oh, I’ll come down now then,” Nicole replied, and hung up.

Nicole knew that Jared had something else to do in the company, but she was not expecting him to
work till late at night. If anything, she thought that he had already gone home.

“Yeah, you should go home now since Mr. Johnston is already here to pick you up.” The others nodded

They felt at ease knowing that Jared had come over to take Nicole home.
