Zi Fan came to check on Long Sijue’s injuries. She shot Su Qianxun a look of disdain and went upstairs right away.
Her attitude left Su Qianxun speechless, but she wanted to know about Long Sijue’s condition right then, so she followed Zi Fan anyway.
Once they were upstairs, Zi Fan began to examine Long Sijue. His internal injuries had mostly recovered, so did his ribs. At last, she unwrapped the gauze around Long Sijue’s arm.
Su Qianxun gazed at the hideous surgical wound. Since the doctors had stitched it up, she could see the stitch marks on it. It looked like a giant centipede on his arm. It was a horrific sight and an eyesore.
Su Qianxun stared at this wound. She felt as if she could barely breathe. He had gotten that wound for trying to save her.
As she recalled the look on his face when he tried to cut off his arm, she felt as though her heart had been split in half and was bleeding nonstop.
Zi Fan washed the traces of blood from his surgical wound meticulously. She then applied the medicinal ointment on it again. She was about to dress his wound when Long Sijue stopped her. “You should leave now…” He turned to Su Qianxun and said, “Come dress my wound for me.”
Zi Fan paused for a second. She was genuinely reluctant to leave, but her rational mind told her that she needed to listen to Long Sijue.
All she had to do now was be patient and hold it together!
“Yes, young master. I shall leave now,” Zi Fan said as she packed up her things and left.
Su Qianxun walked over, picked up a gauze, and started to dress his wound. However, her hand was trembling vigorously. She could not finish her task properly as tears were already forming in her eyes. She could not help herself, and the teardrops eventually trickled out of her eyes.
“I can’t do this properly. What do I do? I can’t dress your wound properly. I’m so dumb. I’m so, so stupid!”
Su Qianxun suddenly broke down crying. Long Sijue saw the tears on her face, and the inscrutable look in his eyes flickered slightly. He reached out and pulled her into his arms. He held her so tightly as if their bodies were about to become one with each other.
Su Qianxun cried for a long while. Eventually, with Long Sijue’s help, she was able to redress his wound with the gauze.
The young woman kept sobbing. She seemed awfully upset, and Long Sijue felt an ache in his heart as well. He held her in his arms once again. Su Qianxun leaned against his chest quietly, and neither of them spoke a word again.
In the afternoon, Long Sijue took Su Qianxun back to the city.
Perhaps it was because she was exhausted after crying throughout the entire morning, but the young woman fell asleep soon after she got into the car. Long Sijue saw traces of tears in the corners of her eyes. She looked very frail and vulnerable. He held her with care and lay her down so that she could lie on his lap.
By the time Su Qianxun woke up, she was already in her bedroom in Jin Garden. She was alone in the room. When she got up, she felt her head aching slightly.
She grabbed her mobile phone and checked the time. It was already six in the evening.
She had more than a dozen missed calls on her phone and countless text messages. She immediately unlocked her phone screen and checked the log. Director Liu had called her once. The rest of the missed calls were from Rong Yebai. He had called at least a dozen times.
There were also text messages from Rong Yebai. Some of them were from Gu Mian.
She returned Director Liu’s call first.
Soon enough, Director Liu answered the phone. He said that he called to tell her their advertisement had been nominated for the “Best Short Film” category in the Hundred Flowers Awards. The award ceremony was this weekend, and he told her to be prepared. She had to attend the ceremony on that day.
Hearing the news, Su Qianxun was very happy. Her first advertisement may just receive an award!
She kept thanking Director Liu. After she hung up and put down the phone, she immediately jumped off the bed and ran out of the bedroom. She wanted to know where Long Sijue was. She wanted him to be the first to know about the good news!
