Chapter 1 He Was Slumdog Millionaire?

In front of the Huading Tower of Qingyang City, Josh stood there with a smile on his face and two
movie tickets were in his hand.

At that moment, a man and a woman came out of the building. The man was wearing a suit, with a
Jens Stanton watch on his wrist and a BMW key pinned to his waist, while the woman was hot and very
pretty. They two were talking happily.

"Faye!" When Josh saw her, he walked towards her with a smile on his face.

But the woman's face changed when she saw Josh. "'What are you doing here? I told you not to come
to my office. I'll be embarrassed if my colleagues knew you were my boyfriend." Faye was very
unhappy.

"Faye, it's the second anniversary of our relationship, so I bought movie tickets to surprise you." Josh
smiled as he handed Faye the tickets.

The man in the suit next to him furrowed his brow, "You have boyfriend? Faye, I thought you said you
didn't have a boyfriend?"

"Shaw, I ......" Faye stammered. She didn't know how to explain this.

Then the man in the suits looked Josh up and down with a disdainful smile.

"Faye, why do you have such a bumpkin for a boyfriend? He must be poor by the way he's dressed."
Shaw said.

Faye blanched. She though Josh really embarrassed her.



Josh heard the sarcasm in his words and also turned slightly pale, but didn't contradict him. He looked
Faye.

"Faye, let's go!"

"No, I don't want to." Faye pushed Josh's hand away.

“Shaw is right. You’re just a bumpkin. You can't afford to buy me the phone and bag I like. You don't
even have the money as to watch a movie. I don't trust you to make me happy."

"Faye, I'm poor now, but I'll work hard, and you’ll live a rich life finally." Josh said.

"Your promise is a just a joke. Your family has no money, no power and no background. Even if you
work hard all your life, you won't be as rich as Shaw." Faye sneered.

"You're not even qualified to be my maid." Shaw said sarcastically.

"Josh, I have to say that you're not good enough for me. Today, I’ll break up with you." Faye spoke
firmly.

Then Faye turned to Shaw and smiled, “Let’s go."

With that, Faye took the initiative to take Shaw's arm. He looked at Josh with a disdainful smile, "You
don't deserve to have love, understand!"

Afterwards, Shaw Wu and Faye headed to a BMW not far away and drove off.



Watching Faye's back as he walked away, Josh was sad, angry, yet helpless.

"I'm poor, so our two-year relationship ends?" Josh said to himself.

Josh kept his head down. His hands squeezed so tightly in his fists that his nails sunk into his palms.

Josh and Faye met in high school. At the end of their junior year of high school, they confirmed their
relationship. At that time Faye was nice and simple girl.

After graduation, Josh got into a local college and Faye entered the workforce when she didn't make it
to college. Since then, Faye had changed. She became a gold-digger.

Josh didn't go after Faye, nor did he try to keep her. He knew he was poor. He didn't have the
confidence to compete with Shaw for Faye.

And Josh saw through Faye, too. All these years, Josh had suffered a lot of grievances and unfair
treatment because he was poor.

"Faye, today you despise me, but in the future I will make you regret the choices you made today."
Josh vowed in his heart. "Shaw Wu, Just wait. One day I will make sure that you will be punished for
despising me.”

In the shantytown of Qingyang City, where most of the residents were the underprivileged of this
community, Josh's home was also there.



On the way home, Josh was thinking about earning money. But he didn’t think of a good way to earn
money. He was just a college student who hadn't graduated yet, and his family was poor. He didn't

and entered his home.

"Hi, Josh. You’re back. I have been waiting for you for a long time,” the old man smiled at Josh and
said. “I'm your grandfather."

Suddenly Josh was confused. "Mom, what's going on?" he looked at his mother and asked.

His mother had told Josh that his grandmother and grandfather had passed away before he was born,
so Josh had never met his grandfather or heard from them. Now he just couldn't believe he had a
grandfather suddenly.

His mother sighed and then said, "I've been lying to you all these years. Your grandfather is still alive.
When I wanted to be with your father, your grandfather didn't approve, so I eloped with your father."

It was a little hard for Josh to accept it. He didn’t expect that his parents had eloped to pursue love.



"Your grandfather's name is Moses Liu," his mother said.

"Moses Liu?"

Josh's facial muscles twitched abruptly. He knew that Moses Liu was the richest man in the Southwest
Province and had a great reputation in the country.

In the Southwest Province, Moses Liu's Huading Group is spread all over the cities in almost every
industry. In Qingyang City, there are Huading Group industries as well.

"Are you ...... really Moses Liu, the Huading Group's Chairman?" Josh stared at Moses Liu with wide

Josh couldn't believe that his grandfather was such a big shot.

"Yes, I am." Moses stepped forward with a smile on his face and tried to hug Josh. Josh, however,
stepped back.

"After all these years, why didn't you come to us? You're so rich, why are you making my mother's life
so hard!" Josh questioned angrily.

Josh's father died early, and his mother had raised him alone all these years, and Josh knew that his
mother was having a hard time.

"I gave money to your mother, but she didn't want it and wouldn't even let me see you. In fact, I want to
tell you I’m your grandfather.” Moses said. “You're my only grandson."



"Mom, what he ...... he said is true?" Josh looked to his mother and asked.

Mother nodded, “Actually, I didn't want you to meet him, but finally I straightened out my thinking. Our
grudge can't get you involved. For the sake of a better life for you, I think you need know he is your
grandfather. I hope you will accept him."

Moses smiled and hugged Josh. This time Josh didn't refuse his hug.

"You've suffered all these years. Grandpa will make it up to you!" Moses said.

Immediately Moses took out a bank card and handed it to Josh.

"There's a hundred million in the card." said he. “It is for you as your pocket money.”

"A hundred million?" Josh's hand trembled and he was so shocked that he couldn't believe it.

Josh had never thought he would have so much money, and Moses saw it as pocket money.

Moses saw Josh's thoughts. "A hundred million is not too much money for me. All you need to do is to
spend it."

Moses smiled as he put the card into Josh's hand and continued. "I'll let you be in charge of my
business in Qingyang City."

"But I'm still in college and I've never had run a company." Josh said.

“My company in Qingyang City has senior managers running it. All you need to do is to be a registered



Chairman and then you can continue your studies. The money that Qingyang City branch earns, you
can use it as you like," Moses said.

Josh nodded. "Thank you, Grandpa."

Today's breakup between Faye and Josh made him realize the importance of having money and
status. Now he could walk with his head held high.

Josh suddenly remembered that Faye was working as a receptionist at the branch of the Huading
Group in Qingyang City, and Shaw Wu also worked here.

Josh wondered what Faye and Shaw's look would be when they find out that he was the chairman of
their company, which made Josh look forward to see them.
