Chapter 26 (Part One)

Eric was shocked and quickly stepped forward to support Nicole, "Miss Lin Miss Lin?"

Nicole was unconscious for a moment. All she could feel was darkness in front of her. Then she fell
down and her mind was blank. A few seconds later, she came back to her senses and indistinctly heard
someone shouting at her, and her body seemed to be supported in a man's arms.

Nicole wanted to wake up. Her sleepiness was heavy and she was weak, and she couldn't control

worried.

Nicole grabbed his arm and said in a low voice, "Mr. Eric, put me down."

Eric still held her in his arms and sat down on the sofa. With one hand on her forehead, Nicole shook

Eric asked Nicole with concern, "Are you okay?"

Eric reached out his hand and gently touched Nicole's forehead. He was startled by the touch, because
it was very hot. Eric frowned and said, "You have a fever and it's serious. Let me take you to the
hospital!"

Nicole shook her hand and said weakly, "I'm fine. I'll be fine after taking some medicine."

"The doctor has prescribed you some cold medicines, but they don't work well. You have a high fever.
You'd better go and have a check."



Nicole still didn't want to bother Eric, so she said, "I'm very healthy. I used to catch a cold and have a
fever, and I drank more water. I would be fine after a sleep. No matter how serious it is, I can still
recover after taking some medicine..."

Eric was worried and wanted to persuade Nicole. Nicole suddenly put down her hand, looked at Eric
weakly but firmly, and said in a low voice, "Mr. Eric.... It's too late. I really don't want to bother you. I
know my body. I'll be fine after a sleep. I will go to the hospital tomorrow. Don't worry. You should go
home early..."

Eric had no choice but to close his mouth. Although he was worried about her, it was not appropriate
for him to stay any longer. So he nodded and agreed, "Okay, I'll tell Miss Li that you can ask for leave
tomorrow. Remember to see the doctor and go to bed early."

Nicole nodded. Eric looked at her for a few more times and finally said goodbye. Nicole couldn't send
him to the door and apologized. After comforting her for a while, Eric closed the door and left.

Nicole put her hand on her forehead again. The night was desolate. She was alone in the living room,
alone in the bright light.

Although Nicole had lived with her brother over the years, she lived alone most of the time. Sometimes
she was sick, got pain, and hurt, but no one helped her. Nicole had been used to taking care of herself.
She was not arrogant and willful, and she could bear any difficulty.

Nicole didn't feel anything special before, but tonight she encountered Lena's insult, her father's
abandon again, and the first time she met with Eric alone, she deeply realized the difference between
her and Eric. She was very painful, and tears could not help falling down.

'Eric, I shouldn't have thought too much. I shouldn't have fallen in love with him. It's all my fault to be so
sad tonight.'



When Eric went downstairs, he stood in front of the apartment building and looked at Nicole's room.
Her living room was still on, and she didn't seem to be asleep. Thinking of this woman, Eric had
indescribable feelings in his heart.

Nicole had always thought that Eric didn't know her, but she was an employee who had been
interviewed by him and agreed to recruit her into the E Venture Capital Company. How could he not
remember her? Eric was responsible for what he had done, and he remembered everything clearly, not
