“When will the police come?”
“Don’t wait for them. They’ll never be here,” Chen Zhao’s mother said. “If you’re tired, I’ll ask someone to send you back.”
“No need.” Chen Zhao shook his head. “My car is in the garage downstairs… You sure I don’t have to stay to make some recordings?”
“Nope. You shouldn’t be involved in the first place.”
“Business competition?”
“Kind of.”
“Then I’m leaving now.” Chen Zhao took in a deep breath and left.
When he returned home, it was already past midnight.
Chen Zhao jumped into Mirror Lake directly, enjoying a rare moment of peace.

“Fali, how come you’re awake?”
“The AI informed me,” Fali said. “I thought you wouldn’t be coming home today.”

“When will you bring me to meet her?”

“Even you can’t cure her?”

The meat even had some of her saliva on it. Gaia was stunned.
“You’re… offering this to me?” Gaia did not know to cry or laugh.
Every day, she had been feeding Princess. Now, Princess was trying to return the favor.
Gaia looked at the piece of meat. Although it had some saliva on it, she still put the meat in her mouth, after which she rubbed Princess’s head.
