As to how Yuan Jin was able to recognize him, Shen Yi had no idea. He paid great attention to what he looked like whenever he went out in the public, making sure he could avoid getting the attention of anyone or the hideous paparazzi.
“I’m fine,” he replied as he tried to pull away from Yuan Jin’s hold.
“Oh, you’ve been shopping with your brother? What have you got?” Yuan Jin snatched the paper bag from Shen Yi’s hand. He whistled softly as he took in the luxury brand of the jewelry. “Is this for my dear Xinxin? Wait, isn’t today her exam?”
Shen Xue grinned and gave Yuan Jin a thumbs-up. “Big Sis did well. She passed her exam and made the whole family proud of her.”
“Oh? Then this is a gift for her?” Yuan Jin gave back the bag to Shen Yi and frowned. He crossed his arms and puffed his cheeks in disappointment.
“You do know this isn’t what she wants, right?” he grumbled.
“But we can’t think of anything to give her!” Shen Xue replied for his brother. His stomach agreed with him as it let out a loud grumble, telling him that he needed to eat soon.
“You mean this necklace isn’t enough to make her happy?” Shen Yi asked and ignored the slight flush on Shen Xue’s face.
“Of course not,” Yuan Jin snorted. He was sure Lu Xinyi would throw that necklace back at Shen Yi’s face if he gave it to her.
“Then what can you suggest? What else I could get her?”
Money wasn’t the problem at all. He just needed to know what kind of gift she wanted.
Yuan Jin had known Lu Xinyi for years so he should have an idea what his wife liked and not. Maybe it wasn’t so unfortunate to meet her best friend at a time like this. Yuan Jin stared back at Shen Yi as if the man had grown another head.
“What? You’ve been married for her for months, and you still don’t know what she likes?” He slapped Shen Yi’s arm.
Fucking hell. That wasn’t a no-brainer. Anyone who knew Lu Xinyi was certain she could be bribed with good food. Yuan Jin had thought once that Lu Xinyi might even get herself in trouble because of her gluttony.
“I dunno. Maybe give her a cake or something?” Yuan Jin hummed as he touched his cheek while thinking. There was a long list of candidates if they’re looking for good food to gift her. Even a dessert buffet would suffice if they wouldn’t pick one.
Lu Xinyi was the biggest foodie he’d known in his life. Remembering how the two of them met the first time made Yuan Jin chuckle. It was so easy to please his best friend.
“Yes, a cake would be nice.” Shen Xue nodded in agreement. His mouth salivated as he imagined the cake his brother would give to his sister-in-law. Shen Xue then shook his head. He could always get his own cake without disturbing his Big Sis’s celebration.
Shen Yi glared at nothing in particular. A simple cake wouldn’t be enough for him.
“Get her her favorite cheesecake!” Yuan Jin laughed. “See? It isn’t that hard to know what she likes.”
A devious smile curled the gay best friend’s lips. “Or maybe, offer yourself to her tonight. Strip off all those clothes and wrap yourself with a big ribbon.” He winked back at Shen Yi who was trying not to cringe at his words.
The younger brother, who was busy eating his imaginary cake, unwillingly imagined the picture Yuan Jin could have been thinking of. His hand shot to his mouth.
Before Shen Xue could finish gagging and laughing at the scene in his head, Yuan Jin came up with a better idea. “Wait, have you ever tried cooking for her yet?”
“Cook?” Shen Yi tilted his head in one side and gave Yuan Jin a confused look. Lu Xinyi was the one in charge of their kitchen, and ever since they got married, he never dared to step on it and cook for himself. “No, not really.”
“Like breakfast or dinner?” Yuan Jin blinked. Had Shen Yi never made something for Lu Xinyi before?
Shen Yi shook his head.
“You, sir, are in a dire situation. How come you don’t know what she wants?” Yuan Jin poked Shen Yi’s chest. “Ah, I wonder if Xinxin had already put what we taught her last week into practice .”
Shen Yi’s attention was on Yuan Jin. He was intrigued! What was it? His little devil wife had been so naughty these past days, and it was starting to get on his nerves. Not in a bad way though but in anticipation.
“Well, if you want to have some wonderful performance tonight, might as well please our little Xinxin first. What else you should do but to feed her with food that you cooked with love? I’m sure she will be pleased and will give you a very good reward for your efforts.”
