succumbed to exhaustion and fell into a deep sleep in the laboratory. However, her slumber caused her

Joshua, who was physically weak, stood no chance against Gwendolyn, the martial arts expert. Hence,
he could only observe helplessly from the sidelines, unable to intervene. He summoned the few guards
who were present during the late hours to spar with Gwendolyn.

“Prof. Mallory, can this be considered a work–related injury?” one of the guards asked.
“Mrs. Jenson is truly formidable. Just look at what she’s done to my face,” another guard added.
“She’s such a scary woman!”
The guards‘ voices were filled with sorrow and frustration as they complained tearfully.
Joshua clicked his tongue as he marveled at Cedrick’s remarkable feat of engaging in a two–hour spar
with the ferocious Gwendolyn without sustaining any injuries. His admiration for the man deepened as
he was in awe of the latter’s combat skills.
“Don’t worry, this is considered a work injury,” Joshua assured them. “Cedrick has promised to cover all
medical expenses and provide triple compensation. So, the beating you endured is worth it.”
Feeling reassured by Joshua’s promise, the guards heaved a sigh of relief and went to receive medical
treatment.
Meanwhile, Joshua made the necessary preparations for Gwendolyn’s intravenous therapy.
As he sat by her bedside and gazed at her serene sleeping face, the memory of her awe–inspiring
combat skills filled his heart with terror.
He sighed and lamented, “Cedrick, when are you coming back? If your wife experiences another
episode, the laboratory will be completely destroyed.”
Gwendolyn only woke up at noon the next day because of her episode.Diligently following Cedrick’s instructions, Joshua prepared a nourishing bowl of oatmeal for
Gwendolyn.
She showed no signs of rejection and obediently consumed the oatmeal. In fact, she exuded the grace
and poise of a privileged heiress, a stark contrast to the frenzied woman he had witnessed the previous
night.
Joshua sat by the bedside and observed Gwendolyn as she consumed the oatmeal. He then
proceeded to recount the events of the previous night.
“That’s how it went. There were only a few guards on the night shift, and you managed to injure four of
them last night. What’s going to happen tonight?”
He was genuinely worried about the state of the lab if Gwendolyn continued to experience bouts of
mania for several more days.
After carefully considering the situation, Gwendolyn felt a sense of remorse and proposed a solution.
“Can I transfer a few of my personal bodyguards here as backup?”
“That shouldn’t be a problem. Desperate times call for desperate measures.”
After finishing the oatmeal, Gwendolyn made a phone call and promptly summoned Elven, Ezra, and
two other guards stationed at Valentino’s villa to guard the laboratory. They were initially assigned to
protect Zendaya and Benedict.
There were many guards at Valentino’s villa, and ordinary people couldn’t simply enter. So, there
shouldn’t be any issues to deploy the guards away.
Just as she finished the call, Gwendolyn received a message from Cedrick.
As expected, there was a delay in the schedule.Cedrick sent her photos of his tent at the border and him having a campfire with a few people, roasting
wild rabbits. He wanted to reassure her that he was doing well.

Gwendolyn felt a wave of relief wash over her when she learned that he was safe.
She hoped to find a resolution to Annie’s problem before his return, allowing them to embrace a
peaceful family life.
Soon after, she got up, freshened up, and left the laboratory quickly to go to Harris Group for work.
Meanwhile, Annie was having a leisurely stroll outside the villa after lunch. Just then, she noticed
something different at the entrance of the villa.

“Where are you going, Ms. Annie?”
She smiled innocently and said, “I’ve been cooped up at Mount Tranquil for the past few days. I would
love to head outside to catch up with some of my old friends in Chanaea.”
The guards nodded and replied, “You’re welcome to go wherever you’d like. However, Ms. Harris has
instructed you to call and inform her when you want to leave the place. After all, you are our guest, andwe should ensure your safety. We will also arrange for guards to accompany you so that you stay
safe.”
Annie’s smile faded away. “Does she see me as a guest or a criminal? Why is she monitoring me so
closely?”
The guards bowed respectfully, “You are a guest, of course.”
Annie couldn’t convince them to make an exception; no matter what she said, the guards responded
with rehearsed bureaucratic excuses.
Without any combat skills or agility, there was no chance for her to ditch the two guards accompanying
her.
“Forget it. How disappointing. I shall stay here instead.”
Annie let out a feigned sigh of disappointment and turned toward a secluded corner of the garden.
Even though she could not leave the place, she could still instruct Paul to complete the task.
With that, she composed a concise text message and tapped the send button, instructing the man to
make the necessary preparations and be ready for any unforeseen circumstances.
Sienna finally had the chance to slip into Annie’s bedroom when the latter was out.
Gwendolyn had mentioned her desire to obtain a strand of Annie’s hair for DNA testing.
In order to complete the task Gwendolyn assigned her, Sienna, a member of the prominent Harris
family, found herself rummaging through the trash can for the first time.However, she only found discarded snack wrappers and empty yogurt containers in the trash can in
Annie’s room.
The pillows and bedding were neatly arranged, devoid of any strands of hair.

Sienna thoroughly searched every inch of the bathroom, even inspecting the tissue–filled trash can
twice, yet she couldn’t find a single strand of Annie’s hair.
It was incredibly strange. As a girl with long hair, it was impossible for her living environment to be
completely hair–free.
This only meant that Annie was vigilant, protecting her secret by meticulously cleaning up her shed hair
at regular intervals. Sienna gradually came to realize that Gwendolyn was probably right about Annie
being anything but simple.
Unable to obtain Annie’s hair as she had hoped, Sienna lowered her head in disappointment and left
the room.
To her surprise, she ran into Annie, who had just returned from the garden.
Sienna was startled as she locked her gaze on Annie; her mind went blank momentarily.
Annie looked around her room and then at Sienna, who wore a startled expression. “Mrs. Harris, why
are you in my room?” she asked skeptically.
