Chapter 688

Cedrick could only stare blankly at his son.

How is sleeping between me and my wife not separating the two of us?

Benny, and let Mommy give you a hug.”

In spite of that, Benedict showed no signs of frustration. He blinked innocently as he attempted to
negotiate with Cedrick in his childish voice.

“Daddy, weren’t you talking behind Mommy’s back this afternoon? You said that Mommy loves to be a
drama queen in front of you and that Zendy learns to play the victim from her, and Mommy managed to
hear what you said, isn’t that right?”

Is it necessary to go into such detail? Having lost his confidence, Cedrick turned around meekly and
snuck a glance at Gwendolyn.

She was staring at him with an indiscernible smile. Just her gaze alone was enough to get him to admit
defeat.



Benedict continued, “Daddy, if you don’t behave yourself, I’m afraid you’ll be punished by Mommy.” He
giggled, then deviously offered his father a solution. “But if I’m allowed to sleep between the two of you,
you’ll be spared Mommy’s punishment.”

Narrowing his eyes, Cedrick replied through his gritted teeth, “In that case, should I be thanking you for
saving me?”

“Don’t worry about it. Saving a life is the noblest thing one can do, let alone when the person is my
beloved father. That’s why you shouldn’t object to me joining the two of you. I’m going to be your lucky
star tonight.”

After circling around Cedrick, Benedict ran toward Gwendolyn and wrapped his thin arms around her
leg.

Thereafter, he nuzzled his adorable face against her knee.

After giving Benedict’s hair an affectionate tousle, Gwendolyn pulled him into her arms and said to
Cedrick, “Benny has indeed not stayed at home for a long time, so it’s not surprising that he isn’t used
to his room. I know this is a lot for you, but let him sleep here for the next few days, all right?”

Cedrick responded with silence.

He was indeed upset that he wouldn’t get to sleep with his arms wrapped around Gwendolyn’s slender

on the forehead. “Go to sleep now. Daddy and Mommy will always be by your side.”

Holding Gwendolyn’s arm as if it was his security blanket, Benedict closed his eyes.

Cedrick stood by the bedside and watched the loving interaction between the mother and son. He
suddenly felt as if he didn’t belong there.

Ever since Benedict came in, Gwendolyn hadn’t stopped paying him any attention.

Cedrick sighed quietly.

Benedict has been suffering from the side effects of the S404 RNA virus since he was young, so it is
inevitable for Gwendolyn to care more about him. What more can I say about it? It will only be for a few
nights. Once he has gotten used to the environment at home, I’ll carry him back to his room myself.
Gwendolyn is mine, and only I can hug her to sleep.

After struggling with himself, Cedrick walked quietly to the bed, lifted the sheets to lie down, and turned
off the bedside lamp sulkily.

With Benedict sleeping in the center, he was like a wall that separated his parents, making it difficult for
Cedrick to even touch Gwendolyn.

The silence didn’t last for more than ten minutes when another knock on the master bedroom door was
heard.

Knock! Knock! Knock!

This time, the knocking on the door was much louder than when Benedict had come over.

Cedrick, who was drifting in and out of sleep then, furrowed his brows in reflex.



Benny is here, so it must be Zendy.

He let out a sigh before turning on the bedside lamp and getting get the door.

No sooner had he opened it than Zendaya threw herself onto him, hugging his leg like a clingy child.

“Daddy, I had a nightmare. I’m not feeling well.”

Cedrick immediately tensed up. He knelt down and placed his hand on her forehead to check if she
was having a fever.

“Your temperature is fine. Are you feeling unwell, Zendy?”

Even though she was hugging Cedrick, her sharp gaze was trained on the bed. “Just as I expected,
Benny isn’t in the room. I want to sleep with Daddy and Mommy too…”

Cedrick’s expression darkened in response.

Her not feeling well was nothing but an excuse to see if Benedict was there. If he was, she, too, wanted
to claim her place on the bed.

“Are you two here to punish me because I did something wrong?”

Cedrick shook his head and snorted, then stared affectionately at his daughter.

Zendaya giggled as she replied in a cute voice, “No, Daddy. I’m your little angel who always brings you
comfort.”

Cedrick counted his blessings that she wasn’t trying to blackmail him like her brother.



Right then, Gwendolyn, whose hair was half-draped on her right shoulder, supported herself up
languidly, her exquisite features adding to her allure.

While pacifying Benedict, she turned to look at the door. “Since you’re here, Zendy, let’s all sleep
together. It’s been a long time since I slept with you in my arms too.”

“Hurray!” Zendaya released her grip around Cedrick without hesitation.

She ran up to the bed and threw herself into Gwendolyn’s arms.

When she saw that Benedict had even brought his own pillow, she turned to Cedrick and blinked.
“Daddy, I didn’t take my own pillow with me. Can I trouble you to get it from my room, please?”

Cedrick, who was standing by the door, shook his head. “No. If you insist on sleeping here, you’ll have
to get it yourself.”

Seeing that her persuasive cute voice failed to work on Cedrick, Zendaya got off the bed in a huff.

Just as she passed by Cedrick, she put her hands on her hips and said in an adorable manner, “Just
you wait, Daddy, I’m going to get you back for this!”

“I’ll be waiting,” Cedrick replied with a cocked brow.

With her cheeks all puffed up, Zendaya snorted at her father before slipping away to the fourth floor,
worried that Cedrick would catch her.

Once she was gone, Gwendolyn shook her head and smiled at her husband who had reacted childishly
by being at loggerheads with the children. “Zendy tends to hold a grudge. You better be careful of her
trying to get back at you at the next opportunity.”

Cedrick turned around with a resentful look in his eyes. “She learned that from you.”



Gwendolyn stifled her laughter and gestured for him to come over. “All right now. I’m sorry you have to
put up with this for a few days. I’ll reward you properly after that.”

“You said so yourself, Darling.”

Cedrick’s lips curled into a satisfied smile.

A few minutes later, Zendaya held a pillow in her hand and panted heavily as she skipped down the
stairs.

Still waiting for her at the door, Cedrick teased, “Why are you running so fast? It’s not like you’re being
chased by wild animals.”

Zendaya let out a proud snort. “I’m not talking to someone naughty like you, Daddy.”

She circled around Cedrick before climbing back onto the bed a second time.

Cedrick couldn’t help but beam at how adorable his grumpy daughter was.
