Chapter 24

At the restaurant.

As soon as the two sisters faced each other, the atmosphere in the room had dropped a couple of
degrees.

Skylar placed her bag on the table and raised her chin and spoke arrogantly to Alyssa, “Just say what
you want to say. I can’t waste time with you. I have a date with Henry.”

She looked at her newly manicured fingers which reflected under the lights as she spoke.

She then looked at Alyssa. While she was dressed for the gala, her sister was dressed for the barn. It
had been so many years, but her ugliness didn’t faded. This woman always looked same, the long
dress, unhealthy and spotty skin, coupled with her thick-framed black glasses, ugly as a toad.

Such a woman wanted to compete with her for a man?

Alyssa lowered her gaze and looked at the glass on her hand. She rubbed her hands on the glass and
suppressed her anger to smash on Skylar’s face. Just as she looked up, she noticed a man holding a
camera just came in and sat facing them.

“Let’s start.” Her lips curled up as she sent a message to that man.

She made sure that all her actions were well-thought of, not wanting Skylar to notice anything
suspicious in the background. After all, her plan relied on the woman displaying her true colors, and



that wouldn't happen if she was aware that someone was watching them.

Alyssa looked at Skylar and said very humbly. “I have already apologized in front of the public. Please
don’t make things difficult for my mother.”

Her hands trembled, and her head was bowed. From an outsider's perspective, she looked like she
was being bullied by her older sister, and that was the image she would like to portray. After all, it was
the truth.

Skylar sneered not able to suspect anything. This woman was always been an idiot ever since she was
born. How could she be smart and defeat her overnight? This was simply impossible.

“Okay. If you don’t want me to punish Aurora, I can do it. But on one condition.” Skylar crossed her
arms and raised her chin as if she won.

“What condition?” Alyssa asked nervously.

“Why are you such an idiot? Aurora never cared about you and never regarded you as her daughter.
Then why are you so concerned about her? You must be a whole new generation of stupid.”

Alyssa’s hands which were on her lap tightened up and her knuckles started to turn white. She said
with a bitter tone. “No matter what happens, she's still my mother. Even if I knew that it was because of
you that she begged me to get married to Emmett, I still agreed. Because she was my mother and I am
her daughter.”



“Pathetic.” Skylar couldn’t stand seeing Alyssa helpless and weak look. Back when they were younger,
Alyssa had the best grades in her year, and she even looked prettier than her. That’s why she hated
her with her all might. It was a good thing that Aurora was also on her side with this.

She placed down her phone and started to eat the dishes on the table. It had already become cold, but
the taste was still there.

When she was young, she liked Skylar a lot. In fact, if anyone were to ask her five-years-old self as to

Skylar was pretty and smart and She loved to dress up. That’s why Alyssa kept following her.

chill down in his spine.
