There was a gloomy chill in the air.

Nicole did not know why Eric was here, but she did not have time to think about it. She smiled as she

Nicole laughed. “You’re kidding. How can I compare with celebrities? I’m just a conscientious worker
bee.”

Mr. Lewis did not expect Nicole to be so down-to-earth. The atmosphere was easy-going.

Mr. Lewis laughed and turned around. “Mr. Ferguson asked me to meet in advance, but my secretary
didn’t arrange the time properly. I thought that since you all know each other, it’s better to combine the
sessions. Ms. Stanton, you won’t mind, right?”
Eric walked over through the darkness. His upright body was clad in black, and his eyes had an
indescribable light.
It was really hard to ignore his presence.







Nicole raised her eyebrows. “Of course I won’t mind.”

In her heart, she wanted to shout, “Yes, I mind! I don’t want him here!”

Eric curled his lips and extended his hand. “Ms. Stanton, it’s been a long time.”
Since they had not seen each other since that day after the New Year’s greeting, Eric felt like it had really
been a very long time.
This kind of longing that was felt deep in his bones was so profound that it was hard to ignore.
Fortunately, when he could hardly stand it, she appeared.



Nicole looked at him with feigned seriousness as she politely extended her hand as well. In fact, she was
cursing him a million times in her heart. “Mr. Ferguson, long time no see.”

To get Jacob and Mr. Lewis acquainted as soon as possible, Nicole kept folding, so that they could win

his face. His eyes were deep and dark, and no one could tell what he was thinking. He was cooperative
and lost several games. Nicole even doubted that Eric could not play poker in the first place.

the right mood and proposed dinner. Everyone readily agreed.

Nicole had a momentary lapse of concentration and did not notice the steps in front of her.

maintain her indifference and could only close her eyes in resignation. Suddenly, another arm wrapped
around her waist. She was pulled into Eric’s embrace. Nicole smelled Eric’s warm and rich tea fragrance
and froze for a moment.

His grip on her waist was powerful. Eric did not take the initiative to approach Nicole the whole night, but
once he reached out, it seemed to have broken the transparent barrier between the two people. Some
