Chapter 261 Conan’s idea

Claire’s words move Conan. He breaks free from Claire’s arms. He sits in bed and looks at Claire and
asks earnestly and cheerfully, “Mommy, have you agreed to Conan’s request? Are you willing to be with
Daddy at last?”

Claire covers Conan and says unhappily. “When did I say that? I mean I’ll stay with you in America for
a while without taking you back to France. When you want to go, Mommy will go back with you.”

Hearing this, Conan pouts and kicks wildly. He says arrogantly, “I won’t want to go. Mommy, if you’re
not with Daddy, I’ll never want to go. I want Daddy. I want Daddy...”

With that, Conan begins to beg Claire in her arms.

Conan is naive and stubborn. Claire should have been angry, but she can’t be angry after hearing him.
Claire’s nose is a little sour. She choks and says, “don’t make any noise. Go to bed quickly. Tomorrow,
Mommy will take you out to play.”

your daddy. Do you still care about your mommy?”

“Haha...” After being blamed by Claire, Conan smiles with no guilt. He looks at Claire and says
seriously, “who says I don’t care about my mommy? Look at my sincere eyes. Aren’t you the only one
who reflects in my eyes?”

Conan is young but has a high Eq. He’s like his daddy.

Although Claire is dissatisfied, she is still amused by Conan’s words and deeds. She smiles and says,
“OK, don’t play tricks. Fall asleep quickly. We’re going out tomorrow.”



“OK...” Conan looks down. He stays in Claire’s arms for a while and looks up and says, “but Mommy,
you haven’t told me who we’re going out with yet.”

“A good friend of mine for many years. You will like her very much.” Claire says with a smile. She
promises Kate to show her her son after she finds him. Although they have met today, the atmosphere
today was not very optimistic and Claire didn’t say much.

Tomorrow Claire will ask Kate why she went to Luke’s house. Has their relationship developed to the
point that she does not know?

As Kate’s best friend, Claire seldom sees Kate fall in love. She is not young but not married. Claire is
worried about Kate.

Kate seems to have some idea about Luke. If she can, Claire will help Kate and get her married earlier.
Anyway, Luke is nice.

Claire falls asleep as she thinks happily.

The next day they sleep until they wake up naturally. Claire is woken up by Conan. She rubs her hair
and sleepily goes to the bathroom to wash her face and brush her teeth. By the time she comes out,
Conan has dressed himself.

Claire can’t help smiling. It’s good to have a son with high intelligence. She doesn’t have to worry about
everything.

Claire lets Conan in to wash his face and brush his teeth. She changes her clothes and takes out her
cell phone to call Kate. She wants her to go out with them today.

However, Kate says she is not available.



Claire hangs up and wrinkles her nose. Is Kate angry with her? Does she get angry because she didn’t
tell her Conan is Leo’s son?

Claire thinks about it and thinks it is possible. Kate is very kind to her important friends. Whether they
are right or wrong, she will defend them. Although she looks a little silly, Kate is righteous.

She is not sensitive but straightforward. She is forthright and informal. She does not allow her friends to

“Why don’t you come to work?” Leo asks.

reaction. She says defiantly, “I’m sorry. I won’t go to work in the future. I said you can’t stop me if I want
to leave.”

“You want to leave? You want to leave without paying me the penalty. Can you afford the
consequences?” Leo’s voice is clearly upset.



“Really?” Claire sits casually in bed and says, “but I learned yesterday that there is no penalty for
employees leaving the company. Obviously you made it up and threatened me! Leo, I don’t believe
your threat. It doesn’t work for me!”

“...”

When Claire finishes, Leo is silent. Then Claire hears Leo making a call. He seems to pick up another
phone and make a phone call.

Claire can’t help wondering. Although she doesn’t know what Leo wants to do, she listens quietly and
doesn’t hang up.

The phone is soon put through. Claire doesn’t know what they say. She just hears Leo say simply, “I
want a rule in our company’s employee handbook right now. Anyone who has been in the company for
less than one year needs to pay $1 million in liquidated damages if he wants to leave. Do you hear me
clearly?”

After a while, Leo hangs up and slowly says to Claire, “now it’s true. Claire, where’s your penalty?”
