Chapter 289 You can’t escape for life

Leo squints at Claire’s words. He is angry. Claire doesn’t explain. It shows that she’s guilty!

They may have the kind of relationship he imagines. If they’re innocent, why doesn’t Claire tell him the
truth?

Leo’s heart is cold. He snorts, “in that case, you can’t go back to your son. You will never see him again
in your life.”

“Leo!” Claire is angry and her eyes turn red. She whispers, “can you let me go home and pick up my
son? I will live with you.”

“No way!” Leo says firmly. He says coldly, “you tell me the address and I’ll pick up your son or you
won’t see him again. As long as I’m alive, you can’t leave me!”

“Leo, you’re inhuman!” Claire almost cries because of Leo. She doesn’t want Leo to see her wet eyes,
so she jumps into Leo’s arms and bites him on the arm. She cleans her tears by the way.

She doesn’t give in suddenly. She is too reluctant. Leo is bullying her and depriving her of her freedom.
Now he doesn’t let her go home to see her son. To be honest, Claire doesn’t like being imprisoned,
which makes her feel extremely depressed!

“...” Leo straightens up and lets Claire bite his arm. After Claire vents and lets go of him, Leo says,
“have you stopped being angry?”

Claire turns and refuses to look at Leo.

Leo sighs in his heart and takes Claire’s hand and walks to the elevator.

Leo really doesn’t want to experience losing Claire again. He doesn’t know where she is and how she
is doing. He wants to see her. The feeling that things are not under his control is very unpleasant.

They have dinner in silence. Leo takes Claire to his villa. He can’t help kissing Claire, but Claire is stiff
and doesn’t respond. Leo thinks it is boring, so he doesn’t go on.

It’s time to get off work. Claire is supposed to be home now, but when Juan and Conan are sitting at
the dinner table, Claire still hasn’t come back.

Conan looks at Juan, who is looking at the door, and can’t help but remind him, “godfather, why don’t
you call Mommy and ask her why she hasn’t come back?”

Claire worked overtime the other day and came home late. Now Claire has finished the design, but it’s
dark and she hasn’t come back. Juan is worried. When Conan finishes, he takes out his cell phone and
calls Claire.

Juan frowns. He is worried about Claire’s safety. Claire hasn’t come back yet. Does she have an
accident?

Juan immediately dials another number and asks about Claire. He’s Claire’s boss, the man who usually
tries to please Juan.



When the phone is connected, Juan simply and directly indicates his intention. When the boss hears
Juan’s words, he freezes and asks, “hasn’t Claire told you that she has resigned?”

“What?” Juan raises his head in shock and Conan is startled.

Juan thinks quickly. He remembers that Claire warned him not to let Conan know that she is not at
Howard Group. He smiles at Conan and stands up. He goes to the living room and asks, “what’s the
matter? When did it happen? Why didn’t you tell me she left?”

Juan’s questions stun the boss. He knows Juan is angry. The boss makes it clear to Juan. Juan angrily
drops his cell phone on the sofa after listening.

How dare he let Claire go to Leo’s company alone! She won’t come back!

He didn’t tell the boss, but he didn’t expect the boss to dare Claire to do such a thing! He’s useless!

Juan is so angry that he wants to kill. He managed to pull Claire out of Leo’s side, but now it’s a failure!
If the boss shows up in front of Juan, Juan will kick him to death!

When Juan’s person see him unhappy, he runs over and whispers, “boss, what’s the matter?”

Juan looks at him coldly and says, “investigate where Claire went after she left the company!”

“Yes!” The man leaves immediately and leaves Juan alone in the living room angry.

Conan feels the atmosphere is wrong. He jumps off the table and runs to the living room. He asks Juan
curiously, “godfather, what happened to Mommy?”

Juan is in a bad mood but when he sees Conan, his anger is half gone. He can’t let Conan worry, so he
has to smile reluctantly. He goes to Conan and squats down. He touches his head and says, “Mommy
is fine. She can’t come back tonight. Let’s eat dinner first.”



“OK.” Conan pretends to believe Juan’s words and nods naively.

Juan pulls Conan back to the table. They know Claire won’t be back tonight, so they start to have
dinner.
