Calming Things Down

He walked up slowly.

“A thousand pardons. I acted too rashly. Hearing your explanation, it also seems that we need to work

Mr. Garcia tried to calm things down by taking him out to dinner. Yet this is only the first day of filming,

some rest for now? We could dine out after the production began.”

Amelie was good with situations like this. Mr. Garcia agreed with her.

“You were right. We’ll go out some other time, then. Ricky, I’ll send someone to take you to your
lounge, and later I’ll get a car to drive you to your hotel.”

Fortunately, Richard wasn’t nitpicky. He would look at Amelie from time to time, and give out a
mysterious smile.

“It’s okay, Mr. Garcia. It’s the least I could do. We’re partners, after all. May our production goes
smoothly.”



Richard stretched out his hand, and the two of them shook hard.

Problem solved, at last. Amelie felt relieved seeing him leave.

She finally got it under control, and stopped her work from becoming more

troublesome.

Mr. Garcia looked thankfully at Amelie.

“Ms. Mullen, thank you so much. I can’t imagine the chaos that could have been if you

hadn’t stepped in.”

“It’s no big deal, Mr. Garcia. We’ve still got two months ahead of us. Your reputation for being
exceptionally responsible and prudent precedes you. I believe we’ll have a wonderful time working
together, so please forgive me if I did anything wrong.”

Amelie was good with words, and she said all the good things about him. Though she did not know him
well, she meant what she said.

“Don’t worry. I’ll cut you some slack. There’s no filming today, and you may go now. I’ll send someone if
anything happens.”

Mr. Garcia left after this.

Amelie watched him leave, and she finally calmed down.

Even though she was well aware that this show could be her step upward, Amelie still felt that
something was going on between Mr. Garcia and Mr. Evans.



With Belen’s help, Amelie removed her makeup and changed it back into her daily. attire. Then she
hurried out of the lounge and went back to the hotel.

Amelie was about to go on with her script when the alarm rang.

She grabbed her phone and turned it off, and the room returned to its silence.

She set the alarm just so she could sneak out.

She was about to meet Jeff at noontime. For she received a message from Jeff, that he had discovered
something overseas.

Amelie was so excited hearing this, and she hadn’t even rested up.

She looked at the time and hurried out of her hotel room, with only a jacket, a cap, and a

mask.

Belen wasn’t in her room right now, and Amelie sent her a message before leaving.

Jeff was waiting in a coffee shop nearby.

His face was cold and serious. His coffee pot was almost empty.

After a while, Amelie finally arrived at his box.

“There you are. I was afraid you’d be too busy to get out.” Jeff said coldly.

Amelie sat down and took off her mask and hat.

“What’s going on? Is something wrong?”

She went straight to the point.



“I did some diggings into some assets of the Mullen family. They were sold abroad by Willard. At first, I
thought they were never recovered, but I discovered some traces yesterday that Willard did not sell
these shares. He assumed a different identity and was pulling the strings. I believe we can try and act
now. We might have a pretty good chance of getting the Mullen family back on its feet.”

Amelie was thrilled to hear this.

She could actually get her family back on its feet. She could hardly believe it.

“Is it true? Are you serious?”

“Indeed. They didn’t make a move before, so I didn’t notice. And it was only recently

that Willard secretly made frequent transfers to that small firm abroad. And he rerouted a lot, so I find
that suspicious. Why would Willard do this? Who could push him this far? You’ve already got the

“There’s no rush. I’ve already got the details right here in this file. This firm appeared normal, but it got

“Deficits?”

“Exactly. Willard was running a clothing business, but his factory kept breaking down these past few
years, and there’s no one in charge.”



“So that’s why Willard got the company firmly in his grasp. He was running it the whole time?”

“You’re right. Therefore, this will be a huge breakthrough. I didn’t expect Willard to be this smart. That
bas*ard will never get away with this.”

“Nobody makes my family a living hell and gets away with it. Not on his life.”

Amelie picked up the file from the table and gave it a look.
