Chapter 10 - Have You Fallen In Love With Me?

She could feel a hint of jealousy in his tone.
In the past, Lu Beixiao was always jealous of his rival, Shen Xichuan. This was largely due to a sequence of misunderstandings plotted by the despicable duo to stir Ye Qiao and Lu Beixiao's relationship. Moreover, since Ye Qiao never bothered to explain herself, their problems inevitably snowballed.
"He was never my boyfriend. He deserves the pain he is suffering from and should take it as a lesson for trespassing," she explained.
Lu Beixiao could not fathom the girl's thoughts. Lu Beichi once told him that the girl was a well-known rebel who set herself against the people from the main courtyard; she was also seen as a troublemaker who trespassed on others' property from time to time with a group of boys.
"Ye Qiao, everyone in school knows that you like Shen Xichuan," Ye Zhenzhen had the audacity to correct her.
"You'd better stop it! What does a young girl like you know, anyway? Brother Beixiao, let's talk outside!" Ye Qiao stared at Ye Zhenzhen with a cruel glitter in her eyes before taking Lu Beixiao by the hand and walking out of the house together.
Rather flustered, Ye Zhenzhen followed them to the door and watched as they walked out into the garden. Although she really wanted to follow them out, she convinced herself that she had a reputation to uphold, so it would be inappropriate to start an argument with Ye Qiao in front of Lu Beixiao.
Obviously, she was annoyed by Ye Qiao's insufferable arrogance.
That girl must be interested in Brother Beixiao!

"How dare she go after someone she is obviously not worthy of? How could she just change her mind like that upon seeing someone new?" All of a sudden, the thought of Ye Qiao's beauty irritated Ye Zhenzhen even more. "What a vixen!"
She was no longer the 'awkward' girl from the countryside. She now had the look of a wily old fox.
The garden had a rather fine view; it was a spectacular environment to house a grape farm. Clusters of grapes hung on the trellis, indicating a fruitful harvest was underway when they were all ripe. Lu Beixiao and Ye Qiao were both spotted in the trellised archway. He remained composed while looking askance at the girl.
He could tell that the girl was being friendly with him but remained skeptical about her intention since Lu Beichi already warned him.
It was safe to say that he was skeptical but unafraid. To be frank, he was never truly afraid of anything.
Casually, he leaned against a metal bar with his devil-may-care attitude, still looking like a young boy. He looked nothing like the man in her memory, the one who looked fierce in his field uniform. In fact, he died as a Squadron Commander of the main Special Forces known as Blood Wolf.
Under the hot skies, she found joy in the familiarity of his masculinity.
Lu Beixiao stood in silence as the girl continued to look at him with eyes full of eagerness and affection. He soon became uncomfortable by the sight of her lingering eyes. To break the awkward feeling, he opened the lid of the soda bottle with his teeth and took a big gulp.
"Help me open it!"
She passed her bottle to him. "I am not being difficult on purpose. I just like beer bottles, but I don't know how to open one without a bottle opener," she explained.
Even if it were just a normal bottle, she would still have asked for his help. She had been too harsh on him in the past and never showed him the gentleness that a loving wife would show to her husband.
Despite not treating him the way a good wife should, the man still loved her, regardless.
She never understood why he loved her. Perhaps the man was a masochist who drew pleasure from unrequited passionate love.
Swiftly, he took the bottle and opened the lid with ease.
Refusing to use a straw, Ye Qiao drank directly from the bottle. The refreshing scent of orange soda was the best source of relief in this unrelenting midsummer heat.
"Don't you mind that I've touched the bottle with my mouth?"
He asked with all seriousness, though it did sound a little flirty.
"Not at all," she excitedly replied.
He was caught slightly off guard but was pleased by her response. "I didn't know that you flirt. Is this how you usually talk to your boyfriend?"
"No. What I meant is that I don't mind touching your saliva." She stood in front of him with her face so beautiful and her eyes so enticing that it almost like she was peering into the depth of his soul.
"Have you fallen in love with me?" Nonchalantly, he bent down slightly so that their eyes were on the same level.
