Late into the night, Caprice got tired out from all that playing at Madam Stockton’s and had fallen
asleep. It was Queenie who took her back to Sherry’s.

Sherry promptly took the child into her arms.

Except she was not tired anymore. John had interrupted her sleep and now she was wide awake again.

When she heard the sound of faint footsteps approaching, she opened her eyes again and stole a
glance.

It was John. He was wearing a set of silver–gray silk pajamas. She could not help but notice that he
had left the buttons from his collar down to the middle of his chest unbuttoned. It seemed like it was
intentional.

The collars were pulled to the side, revealing the texture of his skin underneath.

His eyes gleamed with charm, he was up to no good.

He was the devil himself.

Sherry could not resist staring and silently gulped.

As soon as John entered, he peered into her eyes, his vision completely unobstructed by the darkness.
“Sherry, why haven’t you slept yet? Were you waiting for me?”

He spoke in a low and mellow voice, a gentle tone.

Just a small sentence managed to evoke such feelings of endearment.

Sherry was slowly losing control of herself. She had to suppress her restlessness as she answered
without directly looking at John, “I fell asleep just now, but your footsteps woke me up again.”

“Oh, really?”

“Yes, really!”

“Heh.” John chuckled and got into bed.



As usual, he lay down on the other side of Caprice.

The room was basked in darkness.

Even after laying in the dark for a long time, Sherry still had a hard time falling asleep.

All she could think about was John’s chiseled and alluring figure.

She stared for what seemed like forever, then she lightly coughed to see if it would wake the man.

He still lay motionlessly, the pace of his breathing completely uninterrupted.

He usually fell asleep quite quickly, so she wagered that he must be in a deep sleep by this point.

With this in mind, she sneakily stretched her hand out, passed it over the sleeping Caprice, and
reached for John’s chest.
