Queenie smiled warmly, then she turned to Sherry.

Sherry recognized Queenie at last and was astounded. “When did you get here?”

saving me from the burning car. If not for you, I wouldn’t even be alive and talking to you this moment.”



Sherry’s eyes became filled with emotions. She said with a faint smile, “No need, anyone would have
saved you.”

“There’s more to it than that. I was very nasty toward you back then and was constantly trying to tear
John away from you.” Madam Stockton expressed with a tired sigh, “But you looked past all that and
chose to save me.”

Sherry smiled and spoke sincerely, “You are John’s mother. I would do everything I can to save you.”

“Thank you. I just thought… What I did in the past was wrong. If it wasn’t for me, things would have
gone much better between you and John, and all those terrible things would not have happened.” After
a pause, she continued, “It was right for John to take that knife for you, especially considering how
terribly he treated you back then. You could even say he deserved it. Julie… that wretched woman
almost killed you. I’m just glad that you managed to make up with John after everything that
happened.”

She grew emotional as she spoke and quickly reached for a handkerchief to wipe her tears.

Sherry was starkly surprised. She was not expecting such a heartfelt confession.

Before the start of their conversation, she assumed that Madam Stockton would tell her off again and
warn her to keep her distance from John.

had been all these years.
