Understanding Girlfriend

When he returned to the bedroom, Gloria went to the couch and opened the bag.

It turned out to be a cell phone case with a box of ointment underneath.

Feeling somewhat surprised, Gloria took out the ointment box and found it was for the bruise. She
looked a bit startled. At the banquet, she did lift her gown to show him her legs.

But she wondered why would Jordy be so thoughtful.

Gloria left the ointment behind, inserted the SIM card into her new cell phone and headed to her
bedroom, where she could call Irene.

The call was put through almost immediately.

“Gloria?”

Gloria’s eyes twitched. “Irene, my phone fell into the water and was damaged. I just got a new phone.”

“What was going on?” asked Irene with concern.

“I don’t know exactly. Someone pushed me into the water while I was chilling out in the open.”

Irene snorted unhappily, “I’d like to see who did that to you! I’ve had my people look into it. It won’t take
long. Fortunately, you’ve told me just in time.”

“Most likely, whoever he or she was, they must have found a scapegoat, but there are details we are
gonna dig out anyway. I appreciate what you do for me, Irene.”

“Don’t even mention it if you consider me your friend,” Irene said, making a pretence of displeasure.



Gloria giggled, and Irene’s worried voice came again. “How are you feeling anyway? Everything okay?”

“I’m all right, Irene. Thank you for your concern.”

“Well, be careful with whatever you do and try not to be alone while you are out there.”

“Yes.”

She was about to say something to Irene when a cold voice called out to her, “Get out. Time for dinner.”

“Irene, I have other business to attend to. I will call you another time.”

“Oh, yeah, go ahead and always take care.”

“Bye.” Gloria felt touched.

After hanging up the phone, she walked out.

Jordy had set the table.

Gloria washed her hands and sat down across from him.

Jordy had picked up his fork. For a moment, Gloria found it a bit magical.

Her relationship with Jordy might not be so tense. But they had, after all, divorced. It just felt bizarre to
live under the same roof and sat even closer to each other than when they were still a married
couple…

In the past three years, they had never had dinner together all by themselves.

Every time when they dined together, it was under the pressure from his grandma, but now…



Well, it may also be at the adamant demand of his grandma too, otherwise, why would he bring her on
this business trip?

Gloria said nothing. She picked up her fork as well.

Jordy’s cell phone rang at the moment. He was obviously unhappy about it as he frowned slightly when
he saw the caller ID.

Gloria thought he must hate being interrupted at dinner.

Jordy put it through reluctantly after seeing Gloria’s expression and put the call on speaker.

Before Jordy could speak, an anxious voice came through, “Jordy, are you okay? I saw you carry
Gloria out. Did you jump into the water to rescue her? How are you both doing?”

It’s her, Gloria felt a strong sense of sarcasm. She sounded like such a sweet and understanding girl.

Instead of feeling upset by the fact that Gloria, her little sister and ex-wife of her fiance was now living
under the same roof with her fiance, she seemed concerned about their conditions. How touching!

She looked up and saw the complexity in Jordy’s eyes.
