Ever since the day that she had walked out of the Huo’s mansion, Mother Gu had decided that she would never let her real daughter step foot inside the Gu’s front door again!
Thinking of that, Mother Gu’s hand started to tremble again.
If it was the Gu’s status, Gu Shishi would never had the opportunity to marry Young Master Huo. Now she just turned her back, not care about her real family, and thought of that man as her only family!
“Your surgery was very successful,” said Mother Gu as she suppressed the displeasure inside of her and hold onto her adopted daughter’s fragile hand as her heart ached. “The doctor said you are doing very well. Now, all you need is to recover from this and you will be able to live like a normal person.”
Gu Wushuang had guessed it already but, even so, she was ecstatic when she heard the confirmation from her mother.
Her surgery was successful and Gu Shishi had completely disappointed the Gu’s couple. Gu Shishi would have lost all of her ability to compete over the Gu’s fortune!
But Gu Wushuang was naturally a sensitive one.
She looked around her room a little and asked dubiously......
“Where’s Daddy?”
Mother Gu sighed and said, “He was here during your surgery last night and he stayed until 4 in the morning. He had something urgent to take care of so he flew back for a business meeting.”
She had never paid much attention to what was going on with the Gu’s business. Everything was taken care of by Gu Jiangxin.
As the woman behind him, she didn’t understand matters of the business and rarely asked any questions. She was used to traveling around all the time.
“Oh yeah, you should let your daddy knows that you have woken up.”
She should not go right back to sleep after a full-body anesthesia.
Family members were responsible for keeping the patient engaged.
“Alright,” said Gu Wushuang with a smile, even though her little face was still pale.
Mother Gu dialed Father Gu’s numbers immediately.
It ran for a few times but nobody picked up.
“Is it the time difference? Or that he is still on the plane? It’s alright, Mommy. Why don’t you and Brother Cheng just chat with me?”
Gu Wushuang, too, was used to Gu Jiangxin not being home so she didn’t think much of it either.
Mother Gu patted her on the back of her hand and smiled. “Okay, let your Brother Cheng chat with you. Mommy has to go use the bathroom real quick.”
She was young once too and knew that a couple needed their quality time together.
Especially during these fragile moments, Gu Wushuang could really use some tender loving care from a boy, which was why she decided to excuse herself.
Gu Wushuang smiled shyly and there was a hint of pinkness on her otherwise pale cheeks.
Nevertheless, before she could even start passive-aggressively asking Huo Wencheng whether the scar on her would bother him… she heard a starling news from him.
It rattled her from the ground up!
“Shuangshuang, Aunty has divorced Uncle.”
Huo Wencheng had a very complicated look.
Gu Wushuang was shocked. So shocked that she was sure she had heard wrong.
“Who…?”
“Your mom and dad.”
Gu Wushuang, laying on her bed, almost couldn’t catch her breath.
“That’s… that’s impossible.”
Huo Wencheng told her the entire story with a bitter smile.
“I’ve tried to talk Aunty out of it but she wouldn’t listen to me. She even asked me not to tell you before the surgery.”
Gu Wushuang, who had just woken up from her anesthesia, only wished she could pass out and lose consciousness again!
It was Gu Shishi whom she wanted to have a divorce!
She didn’t want Gu Shishi to have a better life than her!
Even if her plan had failed, at the very minimum, she would let the Gu’s parents know what kind of a cold and unfamilial person that Gu Shishi was!

Was her mother a fool?
What was the point of her getting a divorce?!!
Gu Wushuang heaved heavily and, all of a sudden, she was heaving so much that she couldn’t even talk!
She took a look at Huo Wencheng and her heart sank some more.
A very bad feeling attacked her along with the pain from her incision!
Sure enough, Huo Wencheng took a look at the back of Mother Gu who was in the hallway and lowered his voice.
“How much assets or the Gu’s shares do you and Aunty have?
“I am a little worried.
“Uncle Gu answered a call last night before he took off…”
