Similar to before, Song Qingchun did not understand what she was saying. However, from her gestures, Song Qingchun could guess what the old woman was trying to say; the man squatted before her to help her apply the ointment before leaving.
Song Qingchun wanted to ask the old lady some questions, but her command of Japanese was not good enough to do that. Therefore, she tried using English. However, the old lady did not seem like she understood English; she shook her head at Song Qingchun with confusion. Eventually, someone called her name, and the friendly old lady bade her "sayonara" before taking her leave.
