The evening two days later, Cheng Qingchong and her mother returned home from the hot springs. It was Mrs. Cheng who prepared dinner. When the dinner was done, Qin Yinan still hadn't returned from work. Mrs. Cheng refused to start dinner without Qin Yinan, so Cheng Qingchong could only wait. Qin Yinan finally returned at 9 pm.
The man looked extremely exhausted. He placed the key on the shoe rack and went into the bathroom to wash his hands before taking his place at the dining table. After dinner, while Cheng Qingchong did the dishes, Qin Yinan didn't retire to his study but sat in the living room to accompany Mrs. Cheng.
After finishing the dishes, Cheng Qingchong didn't feel like sitting across Qin Yinan in the living room, so she found herself chores to do in the kitchen. She busied herself until 11 pm when Mrs. Cheng stood up from the sofa. She then exited the kitchen with a glass of warm milk and followed her mother into the guest bedroom.
Cheng Qingchong accompanied her mother until Mrs. Cheng fell asleep. Then, she came out. The television in the living room was still on, but Qin Yinan had already disappeared. She glanced at the study, and it was dark, so Cheng Qingchong knew that he was in the main bedroom.
Suddenly reminded of the events that happened two nights ago, Cheng Qingchong quivered with fear. She didn't think she had the courage to spend another night alone in the room with him, so she stood dumbly in the living room for a while before sitting down on the sofa. She picked up the remote control and looked for a random television show to watch.
At midnight, Qin Yinan came out of the main bedroom. Based on the wetness in his hair, it appeared like he was fresh out of the shower. He was going to the kitchen to grab himself a glass of water.
When he passed the living room, he glanced at Cheng Qingchong. He noticed Cheng Qingchong lean her body further away from him when he did so. He knew she was trying to avoid him. During dinner, she didn't dare to look at him even once, and even though she still kept up appearances for the sake of Mrs. Cheng, when she talked or smiled at him, her eyes were always lowered.
It had only been two days since he had last seen her, but for some reason, he felt the woman had lost weight. Cheng Qingchong was a naturally fair person, but the whiteness around her face gave her an air of sickness.
Shriveling up in the large sofa all alone, she looked pitiable.
After Qin Yinan finished his glass of water, he didn't hurry to leave. He leaned against the dining table to stare at Cheng Qingchong's back for a while before retreating back to the main bedroom.
When he passed the sofa, he stopped slightly because he wanted to tell her, Come back to the bedroom to sleep, I won't do anything to you.
However, the moment the words reached his mouth, he felt a certain way. It was she who had messed with his mind so cruelly in the first place, so why should he be concerned about her?
In any case, after he found out about the truth, his deepest wish was to create hell for this woman. He had executed every step of his plan to perfection; there was literally no blemish.
It was already very out of his character to help her to accommodate her mother, so why should he complicate their relationship even more by showing her concern? After all, three days later, after Mrs. Cheng left, they would have nothing to do with each other anymore.
Qin Yinan nodded to himself and moved away from Cheng Qingchong. He pushed open the bedroom door and closed it behind him.
It was getting late, but Cheng Qingchong didn't move toward the main bedroom. There was already nothing on the television, but she still held the remote in her hands, skipping through the many channels.
