Chapter 4 She is Your Stepmother

Simon was stunned for a while, and then opened the trunk of the black Mercedes and was to take
Emma's suitcase.

Emma pulled the suitcase back and turned to Joey, “Hasn’t you mother had gotten a room ready for
me? I will sleep at your house tonight...”

“You are already 20 years old, do you know self-love as a girl?” Simon shouted behind her.

Emma slowly turned around, stared at Simon and said coldly, “Do you still remember that I am already
20 years old? If I remember correctly, Jessie Macey messed with you since she was less than 20 years

“She's your stepmother!” Simon reminded her.

Emma was too lazy to answer him. She pulled the lever of her suitcase and walked toward the taxi
parked on the roadside not far away.

Before leaving, she turned around and said to Simon, “Since you know that she and I can’t get along
with each other, we should not waste our energy pretending to be a dutiful daughter and a loving father.
These days I am going to stay with my grandfather, and I don’t want see Jessie Macey's foul face!”

Emma lay in the guest room of Joey's house and slept until 3 PM.

Joey's mother Nadia was a gentle and virtuous woman, always with a smile.



She specially commanded the kitchen to do Emma's favorite durian crisp before she went upstairs to
wake Emma up.

Emma sat in the bed, absentminded.

Nadia stood outside the door and said softly, “Emma, Kate called just now. I told her you were still
asleep. Would you like to get up and call her back?”

Hearing the name of Kate, Emma irritably scratched her hair.

Even though she was irritable, she said, “I know, Nadia.”

Listening to the footsteps of Nadia downstairs, Emma climbed up from the bed and went to the
bathroom to wash.

Emma pulled open the chair and sat opposite.

Only Emma and Joey sat at the table.

With a yawn, Emma took the fully charged phone over.

There are 13 missed calls.

Two of them were from her grandfather, and the other 11 were from Kate.

Joey took a shredded kelp to his bowl, squinted at Emma and asked, “Ivan called?”

Joey clapped the chopsticks on the table and looked angry.

come back to me?”

Nadia took the chicken soup out of the kitchen and brought it to Emma. “Emma,” she said with a smile,
“I haven't seen you for three years. How did you lose so much weight? In my memory, you are still that
chubby little girl. You had been alone abroad these year, you must have suffered a lot.”

Emma laughed and acted coquettishly, “Nadia, I have lost weight.”

Nadia gave a smile.

Joey stood up, stared at Emma and said, “You lied!”

As Emma glared at him, Joey turned and walked toward the bathroom, in slippers.

For their behavior, Nadia had already been used to it.

She then thought of something. Looking at Emma, who was stuffing the durian crisp into her mouth,
she asked, “By the way, why didn't Kate come? Haven't you three always been together?”

That was exactly like what Nadia said.



Once Emma, Joey, Kate was like a triangle being together.

Emma and Joey had been playing together almost since they were babies.

Kate came when Emma was 14.

Emma lay on the sofa, biting an apple, constantly changing the TV channels.

Emma's phone rang.

She reached out her hand to grab the mobile phone. Seeing the calling number, she sat up from the
sofa.
