Chapter 50 Go Skiing

Emma sat up from the bed and glanced at the time on the phone. It was less than 8 o'clock.

Scratching her tousled hair, Emma got up angrily.

After a simple freshening up, she went downstairs with her slipper.

In the living room, Officer Brown was talking on the phone. Emma knew who was calling by the look on
Officer Brown’s face.

Emma’s uncle lived in the army all year round, and rarely came back during New Year. Her aunt used
to study with her son in France for her son’s studies. Later, her son graduated and worked in France.
So she and her son simply settled in France. Due to the work, they returned only a few times.

Officer Brown said with joy on the phone. He didn't even notice Emma coming down from the second
floor.

Emma passed by her grandfather and saw a double-layered cake in the dining room. Maggie was
busing at the table.

Seeing that Emma was awake, Maggie hurried over and asked, "Miss, why did you get up so early?"

Emma yawned and sat down on the sofa listlessly, "I want to sleep more. The problem is that I can’t fall
sleep. Firecrackers are raging outside. It's too noisy."

Maggie smiled, "It’s New Year. Every family set off firecrackers for celebrating."

Emma felt that there was nothing to say, so she just turned her head and looked out the window.

Joey's dark red Cayenne stopped at the door not far away. Emma didn't notice when it came.



She suddenly remembered the appointment to go skiing with Joey and Winnie today. But could her
grandpa agree?

When Emma was wondering the matter, Officer Brown had finished the phone call. He was studying
how to insert the candles on the cake with Maggie.

Emma was walking back and forth in the living room in slippers. Seeing Joey's car was still parked at
the door, the sweat on her forehead came out, so she could only bite the bullet and move to Officer
Brown.

Officer Brown turned his head and asked enthusiastically, "Come here, do you like this cake? I
specially bought this for you. I know you like durians. It’s full of durian pulp. But it’s just a little smelly..."

Emma didn't have the heart to think about these things. She looked back at the window, and nodded
uneasily, "Yeah, yeah. I like it..."

How could Officer Brown not know what Emma was thinking about?

But even so, he still said seriously, "In any case, don't think of going out today. New Year's Eve is only
when the whole family gathers together. There is nothing fun outside. You are not allowed to go out.
You have to help Maggie make dumplings."

Emma still not coming out? You can't just call and ask?"



"Then why don't you call her?" Joey looked at Winnie. Then he took out his mobile phone from his coat
pocket angrily.

After the call got through, Emma quickly picked up.

"Hey, Emma, are you going to go skiing? Winnie and I are waiting for you at the door. Hurry up, okay?!"

As soon as Joey finished speaking, Emma's voice came over the phone.

"What's wrong? Joey...what?! You are injured! Is it serious? Which hospital? OK... OK, I'll go over to
see you..."

Before Joey could say anything, Emma had already hung up the phone.

"Damn it! She cursed me to get injured on New Year’s Eve?!"

Joey took the phone to his eyes, and was confused by Emma's words.

Then, Emma rushed out of the villa in less than ten minutes.

Looking at Emma's messy clothes, Joey and Winnie both were shocked.

While pulling up the zipper on the collar of her coat, Emma stuffed her mobile phone into her bag.

She pulled the door and got into the car. When she looked up, she found that Joey and Winnie looking
at her disgustingly.

"What are you doing? Go quickly! When my grandpa reacts later, do you think we can leave?!" Emma
said angrily.

Joey reacted instantly and hurriedly started the car. The dark red Cayenne whizzed out, disappearing
in a swish.



The Charles’ House was also extremely lively today.

Charles sat in the living room and looked out the window cheerfully.

Outside, Wilson squatted on the ground, using the cigarette in his hand to light a firecracker.
Accompanied by a puff of white smoke on the ignition rope of the firecracker, Wilson quickly got up,
stepped back, and stood not far away to watch.

The firecrackers exploded with crackling, causing Rowling, who was standing at the door with thick
gloves, to scream.

Charles chuckled and glanced at the door, "Tsk, it's just a firecracker. I didn’t expect that she is so
scared."

Sitting on the sofa, Sean raised his head and glanced out of the floor-to-ceiling window. Then he
focused on the laptop on the coffee table in front of him again.

On the terrace of the living room, Silvia was instructing the housekeeper to hang lanterns, smiling from
ear to ear. Ever since Sean told her that Wilson had a daughter, she was so happy.

In the bathroom on the first floor, Julia was walking out, shaking her half-dry hand. When she looked
up, she saw Sean, and then asked with a smile, "Sean, why didn't you go out to join in the fun with your
brother?"

Sean raised his head from the computer and replied, "No, he doesn’t need help."

Julia didn't say anything. She turned around and went outside, standing with Rowling, watching Wilson
light the second firecracker.

There were bursts of laughter coming in.

After the lunch, Wilson was called out by his friends to play bowling. He said he would be back before
dinner.

He couldn't help with cook anyway, so Silvia didn't force him to stay at home. Anyway, it was enough to
have the New Year's Eve dinner together.

As soon as Wilson was picked up by his friend, Julia and Rowling put on coats and came out of the
room.

"Sean, do you have time? Can you take Rowling and me to the ski resort?" Julia said to Sean who was
sitting on the sofa and watching TV.

The drivers in the family were all taken off vacation to go home for the New Year. Sean nodded and got
up to get his coat jacket.
