Chapter 227 Losing his wits

“I heard from Chen about what happened to you recently. I hope you can get over this. But we don’t have to meet each other anymore. Good luck!” Gu Yan sent Wen Yunfeng a message.
Wen Yunfeng read the message. He forced a smile, with tears in his eyes. He lit a cigarette, trying to numb himself.
Wen Yunfeng lost his wits and walked on the street. He remembered the days when they snuggled up to each other and looked forward to the future. Sometimes, she leaned on his shoulder shyly. He forced a smile when he thought of the moment.
He was still here after so many years. However, Gu Yan was forced to leave because of him. But it was too late to regret. People always didn’t know what they had until they lost it.
“Gu Yan, you promised to be with me forever no matter what happened. Don’t you remember?” He shouted at the sky and staggered along. People thought he went insane and kept away from him.
“Do you forget about the vows? Are they fake?”
The lights were too dim. Wen Yunfeng was grieved…
He pushed a girl to the ground suddenly who was acting like a spoiled child in front of her boyfriend. The girl’s knees were injured and bled. She was so scared that she sat on the ground to cry.
The boy punched Wen Yunfeng badly. Then he rushed to his girlfriend.
“Are you OK?”
He was worried and asked her gently. It reminded Wen Yunfeng of the days when he cared so much about Gu Yan. He felt sad.
The girl pretended not to feel so painful and shook her head. She held her boyfriend’s hands tightly.
“All women are liars. They’ll fall in love with others a moment later. Don’t believe in them, bro.” Wen Yunfeng told the boy.
He covered his swollen cheek and stood up. Tears even wetted half of his face. He tried to persuade the boy who was in love using those crazy words. But he didn’t know that he was just a fool hurt by love!
“Are you crazy?”
The boy scolded Wen Yunfeng fiercely. He had to take care of his girlfriend now, or he would beat Wen Yunfeng badly.
“Who are you? Are you insane? No wonder your girlfriend dumped you. You deserve it! You are such a son of bitch. Why don’t you just kill yourself?”
Looking at the girl’s bleeding knees, the boy really wanted to beat Wen Yunfeng twice. But the girl stopped him. She guessed his story and sympathized with him very much.
“My boyfriend will be like that if I leave him.” The girl thought. She glanced at Wen Yunfeng who lost his wits and pulled her boyfriend’s sleeve. She wanted to leave.
The boy held the girl to stand up. Her knees were bleeding and her bang was wetted by tears and stuck to her face. Then she hobbled.
The boy told Wen Yunfeng disgustedly, “Keep away from me!”
Then he told his girlfriend gently, “Be patient. Let’s go to hospital.”
The boy carried the girl who was tearful on his back and stopped a taxi finally.
Wen Yunfeng broke down when he saw them leaving. He knew that he was the one to blame. He knew that he was wrong when he realized that Gu Yan became a surrogate mother for his business. However, they couldn’t get back together.
Wen Yunfeng did all these things just because he did not give up his love for Gu Yan. But he went too far. He forced Gu Yan to leave him finally. “I’m even worse than a stranger to her.” Wen Yunfeng thought.
Wen Yunfeng drank at the bar himself. He drank a lot. Even the table couldn’t accommodate the empty bottles. He still muttered, “Gu Yan, I’m sorry…”

As he woke up the next morning, Wen Yunfeng opened his eyes and stared at the ceiling. “I was at the bar last night. How can I sleep at my room now?” He tried to remember what happened. Yes, it was his bedroom. There was a photo of his college days which was on the desk beside the bed. Things surrounding him were so familiar.
Wen Yunfeng frowned and patted his head heavily. But he could remember nothing.
He just remembered that he drank a lot in bad mood…
“Young master, it’s time to get up. Madam Wen is waiting for you to have breakfast.”
The nanny knocked on the door and said gently.
“Auntie, how did I go back home yesterday?” Wen Yunfeng was so puzzled and asked the nanny.
“Well, Madam Wen got a call from the bar at 12 a.m. yesterday. Someone said that you were drunk. Madam Wen could only let people bring you back…” The nanny answered.
She told Wen Yunfeng patiently.
“Got it. Thanks.” Wen Yunfeng replied.
Wen Yunfeng sat on the bed for a while. Then he dressed quickly and washed his face. He was better now. He had to cheer up since he lost his company and didn’t have any source of finance.
He decided to say goodbye to the past and gave vent to all his feelings yesterday. It was the last time he felt painful for Gu Yan. But now he felt empty.
“Yunfeng, come to have breakfast.”
Wen Yunfeng looked at grandma who was downstairs. She did everything for him even though she was tough on him.
Looking at his bent, old grandma, he felt very sorry for what he did. She was so worried about him.
From now on, she had to live a poor life with Wen Yunfeng.
