Chen Qian avoided her father these days after her father received the recording pen because she wanted to talk with him when he was not so angry.
Chen Huiqiang, Chen Qian’s father, was surprised when he listened to the recording. He thought it was a joke made by Mo Yichen before he asked someone to figure that out. The whole thing was not as simple as he thought.
“Ru, do you know what our daughter is up to recently?” Chen Huiqiang put down the newspaper and pretended to ask his wife absently. Lv Xiaoru was Mrs. Chen’s name.
Her heart gave a violent bound. She glanced at her husband, adjusted her mood, and pretended to be calm. She said, “Chen Qian? I have no idea, but she goes to Mo Yichen’s home very often these days.”
Absolutely, she had to act like usual because in this house, Chen Huiqiang was the decision-maker.
He gave her a bleak look because he knew she was keeping something from him. Chen Qian had been close to her mother since she was a child. There were no secrets between them, so Lv Xiaoru must know everything.
She took a deep breath and exhaled secretly. There was an awkward silence. She held her breath and dared not to make a sound.
“Is Qian at home?” Chen Huiqiang asked while he was reading newspaper. Lv Xiaoru didn’t reply, so he looked up and stared at her. His eyes were like a sword.
He had planned to question Chen Qian tonight. He wanted to question them what shameful things they had done these days.
“I’m talking to you. Is your daughter at home now?” Chen Huiqiang raised his voice.
“Oh, yes. She is in her bedroom. She just comes back from Mo’s Mansion. She is tired and might fall asleep now.” Lv Xiaoru was lost in thought, but Chen Huiqiang’s indifferent voice woke her up.
“Go and call her over here. I need to talk to her!” He put down the newspaper and moved to the sofa, sitting upright on it.
Lv Xiaoru knew there was no way to put it off anymore. Success or failure of the matter would depend on today. Once they could earn her husband’s trust, they would achieve half of success.
She peeped at her husband who was severe and exuded a profound sense of melancholy. She knew there was a storm brewing.
She was worried because things were getting difficult for them.
She understood that reputation and fame were important to Chen Huiqiang. In Chen’s family, no one was allowed to disgrace the reputation of Chen’s family. Lv Xiaoru couldn’t imagine what the consequence would be if someone did that.
“Well, Qiang, she probably is worn out because she just comes back from Mo’s family. You can talk to her later. Take a rain check!”
“Just do it right now. Let me see what shameful things she has done these days.” Chen Huiqiang got angry and roared.
Lv Xiaoru was scared by him and she could not resist stepping back. Her hands holding her phone shivered. She puckered her lips and said in fear, “Okay. Calm down. I’m on my way. Just wait.”
The atmosphere in the room was tenser.
Lv Xiaoru’s heart speeded up, which made her short of breath. She looked at the back of her husband on the sofa from time to time. The complicated feelings including fear and worry arose.
She went upstairs and called her daughter loudly while knocking at the door.
Chen Qian quickly opened the door and came back to her bed immediately. She opened her eyes and then closed. A few moments later, she said in a hoarse voice, “Mom, what happened? Why are you so nervous?”
Lv Xiaoru looked back to make sure Chen Huiqiang did not follow her, and then she walked in and locked the door. She walked to the window and whispered worriedly, “Your dad wants to talk to you about that. He is waiting for you in the living room. Look, bear in your mind what I have said to you.”
Chen Qian sat up immediately, as if she had taken stimulants. She stared at her mother with a frightened look, “Holy crap! Mom, what should I do? What should I do if my father finds out the fact? I…”
She was in a panic. In her memory, she had been afraid of her father since childhood because he was extremely severe and strict. That was why she never disobeyed him and always did as he required.
She got no idea about what consequences were waiting for her if her father knew the fact.

After that, Chen Qian immediately put on her clothes and then followed her mother downstairs.

Chen Qian clenched her fists and tried hard to be calm. She sat on the sofa across from her father. Her heart was beating so violently, as if it would burst out of her body the next moment.
“Qian, I have some questions for you. What happened these days? I hope you can answer me honestly.”
