Chapter 9: I Can&##x27;t Reach It

Gazing at Alfred's back, Lauren smiled bitterly.

She thought to herself, "What do you want me to do?

"I obviously almost died today, you saw it with your eyes. Why did you still say that I was pretending?

"It would be such a relief if I could just die today.

"Then I won't need to face him again."

Lauren just lay on the ground. She didn't have the strength to get up. The needle in her hand caused
her to bleed. She tore off the tape and pulled the needle out.

The blood couldn't stop flowing down her back. The unsterilized cotton swab was pressed on the
wound, but it kept bleeding.

When the nurse came to check the ward and saw Lauren whose clothes were stained red with blood,
she was shocked.

"Are you trying to die? Why don't you just press the button?!"

Seeing Lauren bleeding like this, the nurse would definitely go to the nurse station to complain about
her later.

"I can't reach it."



Lauren pointed to the button on the head of the bed. She didn't even have the strength to get up. How
could she press the button?

"Do you mean I slandered you?"

The nurse's face went cold suddenly. She thought that Mr. Kent just left angrily. The woman in this
room must have angered him. She could just teach this woman a lesson. Maybe she could even get
Mr. Kent's reward by doing this.

"Don't forget to pay the bills later. You haven't paid for today's ambulance service, surgery, medical
expenses, hospitalization expenses yet. You looked so poor. Don't you give me that look! This is the
best hospital in the city."

Lauren was irritated by the unreasonable temper of the nurse, and she didn't expect Alfred to be so
heartless. She was admitted to the hospital because of him. But he just left her like that.

He knew she was penniless right now.

Seeing Lauren's face getting awkward, the nurse felt much better.

She didn’t even bother to stop the bleeding for Lauren and then said coldly, 'Don’t tell me, you are
going to welch. Fine. You're wasting my time. I will call the police right now in case you sneak out of the
hospital without paying the medical expenses."

The nurse took out her cell phone and planned to call the police. She was dreaming about reporting to
the head nurse later to get the reward for this.



"My friend can pay for me."

Lauren's lips went pale with pain. She had already lost too much blood. The sutured wound must have
been torn.

This may be God's punishment for her, punishing her for wishing that a man who didn't belong to her
would fall in love with her.

But she had learned her lesson and wouldn't think of that man again.

"Don't play tricks with me." The nurse found it hard to trust her.

"Look at me. What tricks can I play with this condition?" Lauren said weakly.

It was the first time that Lauren had encountered such embarrassment. But she was not sad at all. After
all, she had to face Alfred every day, so she had encountered even the coldest treatment of people.

The nurse gave Lauren her phone suspiciously, believing that Lauren had no friends who would pay
the medical bills for her.

Since the call was made in less than half an hour, a man hurried to the hospital.

Noah immediately flew into a rage when he saw Lauren covered in blood.

"That's how your hospital takes care of patients?"



Noah immediately carried Lauren. He acted swiftly. But when he held her up, he seemed to be holding
a fragile treasure.

"No, no. It's just that this lady did not pay the bill at all. As nurses, we have no reason to serve her,
so..."

The nurse's face turned red. She couldn't afford to offend Noah Kent, so she was so nervous that she
barely knew how to respond.

"This hospital belongs to the Kent Group. I believe that this hospital will not hire a cold-blooded nurse
who ignores a patient's life."

As Noah looked down at Lauren again, her face was so pale. He wondered how much she had
suffered.

Alfred thought for a long while in the company. There were images of Lauren being hit by a car in his
mind. He told himself not to think about it anymore, but the scene kept appearing in his mind.

It must be a conspiracy planned by that woman. Maybe this car accident was arranged by her in
advance.

He was even more irritated while thinking of this. Why should he be affected by a woman?

He was so angry that he immediately went downstairs and drove back to the hospital.

However, when he arrived outside the ward, he saw a nurse running out with red eyes and tears on her
face.



Alfred thought that Lauren was indeed pretending to be weak. She started bullying the nurse as soon
as he left.

He must reveal the hypocrisy of that woman.

When Alfred pushed the door open, he saw Lauren fall into Noah's arms while losing her balance.

In an instant, the anger in his heart was like a bucket of gasoline exploding with a bang.

"Lauren, you really are a bitch. You seduce men everywhere."

Alfred said sarcastically.

"Slap!"

Lauren exhausted all her strength and slapped Alfred in the face. Immediately, red marks appeared on
Alfred's face.

"Alfred, you are really disgusting. Noah has nothing to do with this. Why do you drag him into this?!"

Lauren was filled with anger.

She would rather die outside than stay in the same room with him.

However, she wanted to leave, but Alfred grabbed her hand.
