Chapter 31: My Wife, Did You Forget This Thing?

Her mind was in a mess, like a layer of mist enveloping her. She seemed as if she were steamed like a
steamed bun in a drawer, feeling uncomfortable and suffocated. She suddenly felt that an ax split the
layer of sultry steam, then saw that Alfred was holding the ax in his hand.

"Alfred— " With a sudden cry, Lauren sat up from the bed with a start. She was in a daze and squinted
to find that she was actually sleeping in the ward.

She remembered that Alfred was injured because of her, and his injuries were serious. Fortunately, he
was fine now.

After waking up, she was not worried about her stiff legs but Alfred. Lauren lowered her head. All the
memory flashed through her mind.

Alfred hurt her in various ways before, but after her heart died, he came to pester her. He almost died
in an operation because of her.

Lauren thought to herself, "Alfred, I trust you now,"

Knowing what she wanted now, Lauren got out of bed and opened the window. It was early in the
morning when the warm sunshine streamed into the room and the birds were singing outside the
window.

Lauren smiled and felt more relaxed than ever.

Not knowing how Alred was doing at the moment, Lauren hurried to see him.



"Alfred?" When she arrived in his room, there were only empty beds. Lauren was a little worried and
went out of the ward to ask the nurse.

The nurse told her that he was heading to Building A. Lauren's heart skipped a beat. That place was
where the morgue was.

Lauren's face turned pale. Without considering what the nurse meant, she stumbled towards Building
A.

"Hey, you lied to her. Aren't you afraid that she will kill you after she finds out?" Jonathan put his hands
on the shoulders of the sweaty man and looked at the colorful scene in front of him with an incredible
expression.

Alfred showed a confident smile. He had been preparing for this ceremony for a long time. He had
imagined countless times to make a real proposal to her after he met her again.

Alfred thought to himself, "Lauren, I have been waiting for you for so long!"

Stumbled, Lauren met a lot of people along the way. Among them, there were many people covered in
white cloth. She dared not come close, afraid that she would see Alfred's face.

The operation was really successful. How come...

Lauren couldn't help thinking about the negative side. No one came forward to tell her what happened
to Alfred. She was holding on to a railing, feeling an unprecedented panic.



Suddenly, she saw that there seemed to be a lot of people in front, which looked like the back garden
of the hospital.

It used to be very quiet there, why was it so lively today? Even the barbecue was taken out.

Among them was a tall and conspicuous figure, which looked a lot like Alfred.

Lauren walked to the back garden with doubt.

Alfred looked at his watch and was a little worried about Lauren. He had asked the nurse to indicate
Lauren to come here. why hadn't she arrived yet?

"Alfred?" Lauren called. When she saw the face of the figure, Lauren was surprised and delighted. It
was really him.

"My baby, you are finally here. I was worried that you were abducted." Alfred stretched his arms and
wanted to embrace Lauren.

"What the hell is going on? Didn't you get carried to the morgue?" Lauren shouted. Alfred's face turned
awkward. Jonathan looked at the two people as if he was going to watch a show.

"What? I'm here to prepare for the ceremony. I am waiting for you to come over and give you a
surprise. Didn't the nurse tell you the position? Don't mention those ominous things on our big day."
Alfred said nonchalantly. Then he smiled wickedly, but the bandage on his face affected his handsome
appearance.

At this point, Lauren finally understood that this was all Alfred's plan. Her cheeks turned red because of



anger.

"Alfred Kent, don't you know that Building A is connected to the morgue? You idiot!" Lauren thought of
the panic, despair, and worry that she just felt and couldn't help cursing.

Alfred knew he was wrong and didn't dare to refute, but walked up to her and took out the thing that
was already prepared from his sleeve.

"Lauren, let me be honest with you. Actually, I didn't suffer that much. I was awake shortly after the
fainting, but I heard what you said, so I worked with the doctor to make you think that I might die so that
you can speak out what you truly think. Lauren, I’m so happy. I was awake during the operation and I
heard what you said. I woke up now and it was time for you to fulfill your promise. Marry me, Lauren.
Let’s start all over again.' Alfred knelt down on one knee with a sincere expression. He passed the ring
to Lauren and held her hand.

"Marry him, marry him." Many guests cheered.

Lauren looked around. Almost all the entrepreneurs in the city came, and there were even many
government officials, including a lot of celebrities. This was truly a blessing in her life. Haha. She
thought.

Lauren was put on the ring that was shining in the sun. In the next second, she took it off in front of
everyone and threw it into Alfred's arms.

"Alfred, love is not something you can play with. I'm not the one that you can control. If you hate me,
you can't wait for me to disappear right away. If you like me, you want to have me back immediately. Is
it interesting? I don't like being deceived." Lauren turned to leave without caring about the crowds on



the side.

"Lauren, do you think you can run away from me?" Alfred, who was kneeling on the ground, kept the
same posture but pulled her back when she was about to leave. He took out the marriage certificate
from his arms.

"My wife, did you forget this thing?"
