Chapter 18: Taking A Walk Outside

"Alfred, you also got defeated!" Seeing that Alfred's arrogance turned into sullenness and that he
stormed off after being angered, the woman in black snorted coldly.

However, she didn't feel the pleasure of revenge in her heart. She had never thought of attacking Alfred
before. If she could, she would rather not be where she was now. She just wanted to be the woman
standing behind Alfred.

However...

"Lauren, don't flatter yourself. I never like you. You're just a tool for me to have sex!"

"Hey, Lauren, why are you pestering Alfred so shamelessly? Hurry up and eat this meal, then see your
kid in Heaven."

The merciless scolding of a man and the harsh mockery of a woman sounded in her mind constantly,
shattering her hope in an instant.

"You can't be soft-hearted! Don’t forget how they bullied you and your child! Even after you die, they
can’t wait to have fun without any repentance!" An inner voice told her.

Thinking of the past, the quiet woman suddenly shuddered all over. The assistant beside her quickly
took out the phone, worrying that something might happen, but was stopped by her.

"It's an old habit," At that time, she went to work in the restaurant to make a living, but when she
learned that Alfred and Carrie were going out to seek pleasure, her grievances and unwillingness broke



out in an instant.

She resigned immediately and went to the big city alone to work. She knew that the only way to get
revenge was to become stronger than Alfred, and then take everything from him and let him taste the
pain of having nothing!

Supported by a strong desire for revenge, she started as an unknown employee at the bottom and
ascended step by step to the position of General Manager today. But because of working so hard, an
accident happened and she burned her face. However, she managed to change her face due to the
accident.

The woman stroked her skin which was smooth and tender after cosmetic surgery. The ridicule of her
face became more apparent.

"If God gives me a chance to do it again, I swear that I will definitely make those who hurt me pay for
it!" Lauren thought to herself.

A flash of lightning shone outside, illuminating the entire sky and Alfred's depressed face.

After coming out of Lauren's company, he didn't go back to the company directly. Instead, he started
investigating the identity of Ms. Jones, but the information sent only showed her previous identity and
knew nothing about her origin and background.

"How come there is no background information?" Alfred supported his head with one hand. If there was
some information, he could take the opportunity to take down that aloof woman. Was she really so
powerful? Even a detective couldn't find out anything about her.



Thinking of that woman, he always recalled the mockery of her face as if he owed her a few lives.

However, such a woman could be regarded as a real good helper in business! Although Alfred was
taken advantage of by the woman, he didn't hate her. He even had an inexplicable sense of familiarity
and kindness for the woman who he had only seen twice.

"No! Woman is good at disguising by nature. I can't be fooled by their appearance. This is just like
Lauren deceived me at the beginning!" He thought to himself.

Once he thought of Lauren, Alfred was lost in thought. "Lauren Jones! Lauren! You won’t let me live in
peace even if you die. You always stick in my heart to make me uncomfortable after you die!"

"Lauren! Why do I still think of you? You are such a liar. Why don't you just come alive and stand in
front of me and continue to lie to me?!"

Alfred stayed in the car for the entire night, his mind filled with two faces.

The sky gradually turned white. Drizzle fell on Alfred's face through the half-open car window.

"It's dawn?" Alfred squinted and realized that he had been in a daze all night.

"Damn it!" After cursing, Alfred hurriedly turned the steering wheel and returned home. He thought he
could relax for a while, but what greeted him was not a warm home, but a mess on the ground.

He got out of the car and called several times, but Carrie didn't come to open the door for him. He had
no choice but to open the door with the key by himself. As soon as he stepped into the door, he felt a



pain in the sole of his foot. As he looked around, the whole hall was full of broken porcelain and torn
curtains.

"Alfred, you finally came back! Did you know that I was bullied by Noah again?!" Carrie ran out of the
bedroom with red and puffy eyes and threw herself into Alfred's arms. She and Noah had a conflict
again, but she was a woman who couldn't beat a big man, so she had to use things of the house as a
weapon to hit Noah. Then she thought that she could take the opportunity to blame it to Noah so she
messed up the house again. At that time, she would say that it was Noah who attacked her.

"He actually dared to say that I killed Lauren and that I was a mistress and I didn't deserve to live here."
Seeing Alfred's sullen face, Carrie made more efforts. She tried to lead Alfred to the topic of their
marriage.

Alfred had suffered a lot from Lauren and recalled what happened in the past. He was feeling upset.
When he got home, Carrie also pestered him. He was really exhausted. No matter how Carrie reacted,
he didn't want to coax.

"Alfred! I'm talking to you, did you hear me? Your brother scolded me as a mistress! When will you
marry me? I don't want to end up like Lauren."

"Enough! Be quiet!" Alfred couldn't help yelling before Carrie could finish asking.

The two of them were stunned at the same time. The atmosphere instantly became tense. After they
fell silent for a while, Carrie yelled, "Do you get bored of me? You don't love me anymore?"

Alfred abruptly stood up from the dilapidated sofa. His eyes went red and he said nothing.



Carrie was frightened by Alfred for a long while.

"I'll go for a walk!" Alfred walked away without looking back.
