Chapter 17: Let&##x27;s Wait And See

Inside the car,

"Ms. Jones, we must take action as soon as possible. We can't let others purchase the company before
us!" The assistant asked in a low voice.

"Don't worry. Alfred can't beat me!" The woman looked stern as she mentioned Alfred. A gleam flashed
across her eyes.

The moment she looked up, the car mirror showed a beautiful face that was aloof and attractive. The
woman looked at herself in the mirror, curving her lips.

"Alfred, you didn't expect this, right? You didn't recognize me when I stood right in front of you, but it's
okay, we will meet again soon. I really look forward to the day when we "reunited" as a couple!" She
thought to herself.

"Ms. Jones has such a temper. She won't come out after I waited for so long." Alfred suddenly got up
from his chair and said with a slight dissatisfaction.

Originally, he was worried that his car was broken so he couldn't make it to sign the contract in time.
However, at the next moment, someone called and told him that he didn’t need to go because another
company had already purchased before him.

Hearing the news, Alfred didn't even care about his favorite car on the side of the road and dashed
straight to that company. He wanted to negotiate to regain the acquisition right. What he did not expect
was no matter how generous the conditions he made, the company would not give up. It seemed this



company was determined to compete with him.

Then, he came to meet this company which was being irrational. It seemed that they knew in advance
that he was coming. An assistant took him to the reception room and directly said that the General
Manager still had important matters to deal with, so Alfred was left alone in the reception room for a
long time.

"Sorry, the General Manager has the privilege of acting alone. As a subordinate, sometimes I cannot
fully follow her schedule," The secretary's cold tone made Alfred particularly uncomfortable.

"Oh? Isn't it useless for me to wait so long?" Alfred snorted, feeling extremely irritated that someone
was snubbing in front of him, so he turned to leave.

"Mr. Kent needs to show sincerity when he wants to meet me. Why? You can't even afford to spend
some time?"

Before seeing the person, the attractive and confident female voice extinguished Alfred's rage and
pulled him back with the loud sound of high heels stepping on the floor.

"It's you?"

As he stopped and turned around to look, he saw that it was a woman with a slender figure,
extraordinary temperament, and a brown wave. Alfred was so shocked that he couldn't speak for a long
time.

"I told you, we will see each other again." The aloof woman's lips curved. She gazed at Alfred,



seemingly smiling. But Alfred always felt that the smile was like the cold wind of December, which
made people feel freezing.

Alfred took a closer look at the woman in front of him. Her beautiful face seemed to wear a mask all the
time, which made people unable to figure out what she meant. He occasionally caught a glimpse of her
eyes with a touch of tenderness when she took off her sunglasses. A familiar feeling came over him
again.

"Ms... Ms. Jones," Alfred almost blurted out Lauren's name. No, the woman in front of him was shrewd
and capable with such determination. She could never be Lauren who was always so tender.

Tender? Alfred realized what he was thinking and shook his head quickly.

The woman caught sight of the surprised expression of Alfred. She rubbed her eyes, closed them
slightly, and opened again with a gleam.

'Mr. Kent's arrival really shines our company, but I’m really busy. After all, I just beat my opponent and
successfully acquired a company.' The woman in black smiled at Alfred after speaking as if she was
declaring that she was the winner of the game.

"Ms. Jones, you're being too polite. I'm really amazed by your moves. You actually interfered in others'
business while they already had an appointment!" Alfred forced a smile.

"Don't you worry that you will be criticized by your peers for breaking business ethics?" Alfred added,
acting like he was about to watch a good show.

"Ethics? The business field is like a battlefield, and the winner is the king! Besides, Mr. Kent is not



afraid. What should I be afraid of?" When the woman said the last word, she gave a smile. Her
meaningful remark made Alfred's lips twitch.

What did this woman mean? Was the story between him and Lauren already known to everyone, or did
this woman do her research ahead of time?

The man and the woman looked at each other and saw the acuteness in each other's eyes.

Lauren thought to herself, "Alfred, have you been seen through? Have you ever regretted what you did
back then? But there is karma. Once you said that even if I was burned to ashes, you could still
recognize me. Now I am standing in front of you. You don't know who I am!"

"I don't know where you got this gossip, but unfortunately, I never play tricks. Ms. Jones, instead of
playing tricks in competition, you'd better go home and take care of your children! That will be much
easier!" Alfred was about to suppress his anger. But when he saw Lauren act like watching him make
fool of himself, he remained calm. He just didn't want to be defeated by this woman, so he fought back.

Lauren thought, "Children? Haha, I also want one. But it's a pity that my child has been killed, and the
murderer is right in front of my eyes!"

The secret in Lauren's heart that she didn't want to mention was brought up by Alfred.

"The winner is king. Don't you understand, Mr. Kent? Instead of talking about those ethics, think about
how to deal with my next competition. Don't use morality as a shield like a loser!"

Lauren suddenly attacked him again. Alfred didn’t understand why the woman who had only seen him



twice was so cruel to him. "You're really confident, Ms. Jones. We're not done yet. Let's wait and
see."Alfred was so angry for he lost so many times while dealing with this woman.
