49 The Sports Meet
After He Miao signed up for the sports event, she went to the office to look for Xu Heng. However, she was told by the other lecturers in the office that Xu Heng had gone to the laboratory.
He Miao knocked on the door of the laboratory in high spirits.
Xu Heng looked up expressionlessly and saw He Miao standing at the door. He asked, “Is there something?”
He Miao nodded, walked into the room, and closed the door behind her. Professor Xu, the other lecturer said that if I want to use the laboratory, I need your permission.
Xu Heng’s emotionless expression softened a little. He raised his eyebrows and asked, “Why are you in such a hurry to use the laboratory?”
He Miao lowered her eyes and smiled. “My grandfather’s family is in the perfume business. I’ve been influenced by them since I was young and learned a little. I should be qualified to prepare perfumes by now.”
Xu Heng pushed the gold-rimmed glasses on the bridge of his nose and suddenly laughed. “I knew that you did it on purpose when you scored 60 points on the entrance exam.”
He Miao raised her head in surprise. “Professor, you’ve guessed it long ago.”
Xu Heng handed her a newly-made perfume. “Tell me about it.”
He Miao took the perfume bottle, and gave it a squirt. A clear and warm fragrance went straight into her nose.
This fragrance was sweet and could calm one’s state of mind. It had the effect of helping one sleep and calm one’s mind.
After He Miao confirmed the type of perfume, she put the bottle back on the table and smiled in surprise. “Professor Xu’s pear scent smells fresh and good. I like it very much.”
“It’s not enough to just say the effects of the fragrance,” Xu Heng said with a smile. “You must also tell me the ingredients.”

He Miao nodded. “He also asked me to get full marks in the next exam.”
Xu Heng shook his head. That request would not be granted even if she got his approval. The lecturer just wanted the student to back off and work hard step by step. However, the lecturer did not expect that He Miao was not an ordinary student.
“This should be easy for you, right?” Xu Heng said firmly.
He Miao’s face lit up with joy. “Does that mean you’ve agreed, Professor Xu?”
Xu Heng showed a rare mischievous look. He raised his eyebrows and smiled. “If you continue to be long-winded, I’m going to change my mind.”
“Professor! Don’t worry! I will definitely get full marks!” He Miao was afraid that he would go back on his word, so she ran out of the laboratory after saying that, not giving him any time to say another word.
Behind him, Xu Heng shook his head in a good mood and continued to fiddle with the spices in his hands with a smile.

He Miao had signed up for the women’s long-distance running, which had always been the final event, so she only had to sit in her seat for the entire morning and watch the others race.
