“Try my cooking. This is my first time cooking for someone.” Jing Yan proudly pulled He Miao to the dining table and sat her down. He handed her a pair of cutleries and smiled. “Let’s try.”
“Alright,” she said. He Miao looked at the piping hot and fragrant dishes in front of her, and her appetite was roused. She picked up a piece of stir-fried meat and put it in her mouth. The aroma of the meat instantly spread in her mouth, and it was not at the level that a first-time cook could achieve.
“How is it?” Jing Yan observed her expression nervously. Seeing that she was enjoying it, he relaxed a little.
“It’s delicious! Your cooking skills are much better than mine!” It’s so delicious,” He Miao praised sincerely. “I’ll come here to freeload food from now on.”
Jing Yan chuckled and picked up his cutleries. “You’re always welcome.”
“Oh, that’s right.” He Miao thought of the invitation on the table and suddenly asked, “Are you going to the auction?”
“Yes.” Jing Yan nodded. “Chen Zhao sent the invitation this morning. It’s scheduled for 3 p.m. on Monday. Are you interested? ”
He Miao sighed regretfully when she heard the time. “Forget it. I’ll probably still be in the lab at that time.”
“If you’re interested, I’ll bring you along that day. It’s not like work matters make a difference.” Jing Yan poured her a glass of milk and coaxed her.
“Forget it.” He Miao shook her head and refused. She had too many orders on her hands right now. If she delayed it for even a day, there would be a huge gap in the final progress. Anyway, there would be more after the auction, so it would not be too late to go then.
Jing Yan knew that she was focused on making perfumes, so he did not try to persuade her. He only coaxed her to eat half a bowl of rice.
He Miao had not eaten so much in a long time. She rubbed her stomach and curled up tiredly on the sofa.
Jing Yan got up and cleaned up the dishes. Then, he washed his hands and came to her. “Do you want to sleep here for a while?”
“I want to see Grandpa Jing.” He Miao blinked her eyes as she pushed the man who was approaching her. She sharply smelled a trace of danger.
“You’re afraid of me?” Jing Yan raised his eyebrows and looked at the flustered girl in his arms. He lifted her chin and looked into her watery eyes.
“I’m not afraid. I’m just a little nervous.” He Miao bit her lower lip, feeling that she was so useless. As long as Jing Yan’s face came a little closer, her heart would beat wildly out of control.
“Don’t be nervous,” Jing Yan took her hand and placed it on his chest, letting her feel his messy heartbeat. “It’s all because of you that this place is in such a mess, so I want to take some compensation.”
“What kind of compensation?”
He Miao raised her head and did not wait for his reply. Her lips were completely blocked by the man who suddenly pressed down on her. The lingering and gentle kiss ignited the air around them. It was only when she was out of breath from the kiss that Jing Yan kindly let her go. He held her soft body and stroked her back to help her breathe.
“Jing Yan, you’re so bad. How dare you sneak attack me?” He Miao raised her fist and punched his chest weakly, the tips of her exposed ears steaming.
“Alright, it’s my fault.” Jing Yan grabbed her hand and panted heavily. “Didn’t you want to see grandpa? Let’s go,” he said in a husky and seductive voice.
“Are we going now?” He Miao had not recovered from the long kiss just now, and she looked up at him in a daze.
Jing Yan grabbed her slender waist and said in a hoarse voice, “I’m afraid you won’t be able to leave if you don’t leave now.”
He Miao glared at him with a red face. She understood what he meant and quickly pushed him away before running downstairs.
Jing Yan licked his lips longingly as he watched her panic.
Last night, her kiss only touched and then separated, which made him unable to sleep well. Today, he could finally calm the desire in his heart.
To him, He Miao was a drug that he could not get rid of. A little bit of it could no longer satisfy his desire. There was a beast sleeping in his body that craved for her, but he had locked it in his heart, not daring to touch it easily.
He could not bear to hurt her, so he could only scratch the itch through his shoes.
In the ward, Grandpa Jing was able to get out of bed and walk. Butler Li was about to push the old man in his wheelchair to the garden behind the hospital to get some sun.
“Grandpa, we’re here to see you.” He Miao nodded politely at Butler Li, then walked over to hold Old Master Jing’s arm.
Jing Yan entered the ward and placed the tonics and calming fragrances He Miao had brought on the table. “Grandpa, how are you feeling today?”
“Much better. I can get out of bed now.” Old Master Jing took He Miao’s hand and asked, “I heard that you attended the party with Xia Yan?”
He Miao was taken aback. She turned to look at Jing Yan, only to see the latter shake his head at her. She then turned to Old Master Jing with a smile. “Yes, Grandpa. We’re already business partners.”
“Xia Yan is a good child. You’re really good at picking people.” Old Master Jing laughed and agreed with her. He patted her hand and said, “Since it’s your decision, I’ll support you. However, if you want to deal with Xia Yan, you’d better be careful of the person behind her.”
