Jing Yan could not bring himself to return the weighed meat in front of everyone. He rubbed He Miao’s head, threw the meat into the cart, and pulled her away.
He Miao could not say anything more. She could only focus on the items that he was about to throw into the cart.
In Jing Yan’s eyes, everything in the supermarket was free. Everything they saw was thrown into the cart. One was not enough, so he pushed two by himself. When it was time to pay, even with He Miao’s strong resistance, he still bought two full cartfulls.
The cashier lady could not help but suck in a breath of cold air when she saw the young couple buy so many things in one breath. Even the people waiting in line behind the two of them for payment consciously changed to a line that seemed to be faster to pay.
He Miao looked at Jing Yan with a complicated expression, who seemed to take it for granted. She couldn’t find a suitable word to tactfully persuade Jing Yan not to buy so many things in one go next time.
It was not that she did not want to spend money, but that there was obviously no need to buy so much food. It would lose its taste after a long time, and some would even expire. It was really a waste.

The cashier was so tired that her hands were sore. Finally, she tallied up everything. The final number was beyond her imagination. Just when she thought that the two would be woken up by the number that should not have appeared in the supermarket, she saw Jing Yan take out his bank card and pay the bill with a straight face. Then, he left with four shopping bags full of local groceries in one hand.

Jing Yan nonchalantly hid his arms behind his back and looked at her indifferently. “If I still need your help to carry these things, then what’s the point of me living?”
He Miao was speechless. She could only walk beside him and observe his fingers, afraid that he would really hurt himself if he tried to be strong.
There was still some distance from the supermarket to her home. Before she reached the unit, He Miao noticed that his exposed fingertips were turning purple. She quickly pressed his arm down and forced him to stop. “Give me some, your hand won’t be able to take it.”
“No need.” Jing Yan avoided her hand and walked forward. He just wanted to get home and put down his things.
Used to a life of being served, Jing Yan never thought that these light-looking bags would be so difficult to carry when put together.
This time, He Miao refused to listen to him. She stubbornly stood in front of him and glared at him with a cold face. “Either you give it to me, or I’ll wait for you here. You can come back and pick me up after you’ve put some of your things away.”
Jing Yan could not argue with her, and his fingers could not hold on much longer. He put down the bags helplessly and straightened his body to look at her. “Then wait for me here and don’t run around, okay?” he asked.
He Miao nodded and watched as the man sped up his pace and left. She sighed helplessly in her heart.
Jing Yan returned quickly, picked up the other half of the bag on the ground, and led He Miao home.
When they entered the house, He Miao turned on the lights first, then asked Jing Yan to sit on the sofa. She had to see his fingers with her own eyes before she could feel at ease.
With his hands behind his back, Jing Yan walked to the bags that needed to be frozen. He slowly squatted down and said, “There’s no rush. Put these in the refrigerator first. If you can’t fit them here, put them in my place first. I’ll get someone to get you a bigger fridge tomorrow.
“Let me take a look first!” He Miao bent down to pick up his hand. With great difficulty, she managed to get a hold of his palm, but she did not expect to touch the blisters on his hand that had just burst from friction. Her heart ached as she looked at the way he sucked in a cold breath.
He Miao hurried back to her room to get the first aid kit.
Onion, who did not know what was going on, ran out of the bedroom happily and circled He Miao’s feet. Then, he noticed Jing Yan in the living room and pounced on him, wanting to lick his palm.
“Onion! Don’t! Ah!” He Miao called out anxiously. She then carried Onion to the side, grabbed Jing Yan’s hand, and pulled him to the sofa.
Jing Yan looked at her with amusement. Was it not just a blister? His hands had suffered countless injuries in the army, so what was a mere blister to him?
He Miao, on the other hand, carefully disinfected the area around his wound, careful not to touch it. Then, she took out a bandage to wrap it around his wound.
This time, Jing Yan refused no matter what she said. He pulled back his hand and refused. “It’s just a blister. You don’t have to wrap it like this. It’ll be fine in two days.”
He Miao did not say anything. She lowered his head, not knowing what he was thinking.
