"Ms.Anika, please wait a moment." Maxine lifted her head and said.

"Ms.Maxine, is something the matter?" Anika answered.

Maxine paused and stated earnestly, "A miscommunication between my manager and me caused the
previous scandal and me when I did YT's endorsement.My ex-husband refused to divorce me and
clung to me.Rebecca had no choice but to make this choice’

"There's also a problem with the previous engagement now that I've lost the show on the
channel.Could you please lend me a hand?"

When her agent saw she had gotten YT's endorsement, he assumed and then purposefully asked her
if she knew anyone in LH company.

She remembered Anika had gone alone to get the wedding photos at YX Studio and realized that
Rebecca might have misunderstood, so she did not explain further.

She was only interested in getting rid of her gambling-addicted husband.

Anika examined the gentleness and kindness.

Maxine did not know she would offend the other party and have to apologize to her husband.

Anika gave her a quiet smile and curled her lips.

"I wasn't the one who made life difficult for you.What exactly do you want from me right now? To get
your show and the contract back?"

Maxine's ability to attend tonight's banquet meant she was far from out of options, while she had lost
some resources.



Everyone assumed Anika had a calm temper, but she was simply courteous to strangers.

She was only calm-tempered to those close to her.

It stunned Maxine when she heard this.

Meanwhile, Anika did not wait for an answer and turned around to leave.

She was not the Virgin Mary, who would lend a helping hand to those who plotted against her,
regardless of how pitiful the other party was.

Leaving Maxine aside, Anika noticed the crowd surrounding Zac and went to the bathroom to fix her
makeup.

Before Anika could find Zac, she returned to the banquet hall and ran into an old acquaintance.

Kayden walked over to Anika and whispered, "Nika, long time no see; just as she was about to dodge
him.

This was the only thing they could say when they met each other after they had broken up.

Anika felt a pang of resentment in her gut after Kayden finished speaking.

Anika's brow furrowed as she stared blankly at the man in the suit in front of her.

Kayden lowered his eyes, unconcerned about her demeanor.

"I know Jael Miles and his men went to your new company,’ he whispered.

Anika sighed and knitted her brows when she heard this.



"You already know what Jael Miles wanted to do.We just clicked’

"I don't mean to blame you, Anika.This is Mr.Robert's business card.It should prepare you to compete
for CF's cooperation next year, now that you have Jael Miles,’ Kayden said, as he lowered his voice
and handed her a business card.

CF is a leading international skincare brand.

Unlike others, it rethinks its global suppliers every year.

Kayden felt a little helpless when Anika didn't respond.

"It's just an interview.It is entirely up to you whether you succeed or fail.You didn't have to reject me on
these matters."

"Kayden, what is it exactly that you want?" Anika asked.

"I just want to help you."

Kayden paused, then his expression grew serious.

"Anika, we've known each other for almost ten years.Even if we broke up, we can still be civil with each
other."

Anika suddenly remembered something Natie had inadvertently mentioned on the phone when she
noticed Kayden's completely different attitude after they broke up.

"You've refused your grandfather's engagement request several times.Aren't you afraid of being taken
advantage of?" Anika asked.

Maybe because of his grandfather's dying wishes.



Philip Jenkins had always wished for Kayden and Lucy Cooper to marry.

Kayden was adamant in his refusal.

He was recently so enraged that his grandfather chastised him.

Anika didn't care if Kayden married Lucy Cooper.

Still, she knew that the Jenkins Family had a complicated relationship, and he had angered Philip
Jenkins, so his cousins might take advantage of it.

Kayden, in her opinion, should no longer consider coming to find her if he had compromised.

Kayden felt a sharp pain in his heart when he realized she had casually mentioned his marriage.

He had a taut face and a hoarse voice when he looked at her.

"You should know that I will not marry anyone else"

He knew she wouldn't forgive him easily, but he couldn't let go of the past.

Kayden was also patient enough to wait for Anika to change her mind.

"It's all over" Anika shook her head.

She didn't want to look at his affectionate demeanor anymore.

Our breakup had nothing to do with him, Kayden.It's impossible for me to behave civilly with you.

Kayden wanted to say something else, but as he raised his eyes, his gaze turned as cold as ice.

Someone suddenly hugged Anika from behind.Anika smiled, and her expression softened when she
recognized the familiar pinewood scent.



Zac's eyes sank as he looked at Kayden.

He seemed to understand something when he saw the gilded business card in Anika's hand.

"Mr.Jenkins is really kind-hearted"

he said casually, raising his eyebrows.

After he finished speaking, Zac held Anika's hand in his and extended his other hand towards Kayden.

"Since Mr.Jenkins had kindly given this business card personally, I will accept it on behalf of Anika.It
was a rude gesture.Kayden fixed his gaze on their clasped hands.

Their silver wedding rings stood out too much.

His eyes darkened, and he clenched his fists to calm himself.

He wouldn't have been pushed so hard by Thomas for the past two months if it hadn't been for Zac's
obstruction.

They traveled back and forth, back and forth internationally, with no time to spare.

Kayden knew well that the other party had said this on purpose, but he had to keep his cool.

"Mr.Hills’ words carry a lot of weight.’ Kayden suppressed his emotions and handed the business card
to Zac.

"Anika and I met Mr.Roberts and his wife at the celebration party before." He laughed.

"I believe they still remember her"

Mentioning this was just a reminder to Zac that he and Anika had feelings for each other for years.



Anika was speechless when she heard Kayden.

She met Mr.Robert when she worked at T&D and represented the company.

Later on, she and Kayden disagreed on the company's future direction.

She did not want to get into a fight, so she stayed out of the company's decision-making process.

The man beside her spoke first, just as she was about to retort.

"Is that correct?"

Zac smiled before he lowered his eyes.

"If that's the case.Why don't you introduce me to Anika another time?"

Kayden was silent.

The charity banquet, which had a few twists and turns, ended over two hours later.

Anika analyzed Zac's expression on the way back.

She wanted to say something, but she couldn't because of the driver.

Zac pressed his fingerprints on the door and shut it.

Before she could open the door, she wrapped her arms around the man's waist and softly comforted
him, "Zac, don't be angry.’

Only Anika knew that Zac's grip on her hand had tightened.

A disaster came and went.



Despite Anika's even temper, she couldn't help but curse Kayden.

She remained silent because Zac only looked at her calmly.

Anika smiled as she kissed him on the side.

"There's no reason to be jealous.I only care about you’ The man cocked his brow.

"Oh? Is there anything else?"

"Is there anything else?"

Anika looked at him blankly.

Zac extended his hand and showed the side of his face.

He declared confidently, "Kayden came up to me to brag.Do you believe it's enough to coax people like
this?"

Anika knew something was wrong when he said this.

She stood on tiptoe again after a brief pause.

Her soft lips touched Zac's slightly cold, thin lips.

When she was about to leave, Zac held her by the head and kissed her again in the same position.

His head bowed.

He placed Anika on the small shoe cabinet at the end of the kiss.

When she regained consciousness and saw his contented expression, she realized something was
wrong.



"Did you do that on purpose?" Anika asked.

He pretended to be angry on purpose so that she would coax him.

Zac smiled and lightly tapped her on the forehead.

"You're framing me, Anika."

He sat down on the sofa with her in his arms after he saw her slippers fall to the ground.

The man took out his slippers and put them on for her.

Anika had another thought after a moment of silence.

"That's right.Maxine has also just come to see me.She claimed you put pressure on the platform,
canceled the show she was hosting, and even affected her career.’’ Zac looked down at her, his tone
neither salty nor indifferent.

"What? Do you want to plead for mercy for her?" Anika shook her head.

She didn’t want to plead for mercy for her.

"That's the spirit" Zac's eyebrows twitched.

"Anika you should also have a zero tolerance attitude towards people who try to destroy our strong
husband-wife relationship."

When he finished speaking, he saw that her eyebrows seemed to be tired and said indifferently,
"Alright, it's getting late.Go to bed.’

Anika nodded, turned off the lights in the living room, and walked up the second floor with him.



As he passed by the master bedroom, Zac pressed the lock on the door and opened it.

She didn't go in, but Zac caught her eye and pointed to the bed in the bedroom.

"Is the bed big enough for the master bedroom?" he asked lightly.

"Yes." Anika nodded and looked at him with skepticism.

"So?"

The man sighed and coughed softly.

"So, if you keep having nightmares, you can sleep with one other person.”
