she wrote, but she wasn’t interested to find out, either. After sending the text, Aurora placed her phone
on the table again.

With a smug smile on her face, Aurora said, “Listen, come to me if you guys argue again. I’ll hide you
away and scare him.”

Lowering her gaze, Cindy smiled politely but didn’t say anything.



Meanwhile, Ian was on the couch at home with a heavy heart. Since last night, he hadn’t slept a wink
and his head was now buzzing. The image of Cindy’s face from last night—gritting her teeth with
reddened eyes when she asked him to leave—kept popping up in his mind.

When he heard her say that word, he was very mad indeed, but when he saw her trying to fight back
