Chapter 1648 That Was So Sassy

“Let’s go!”

Xander glanced in the direction of Audrey and Nicole. They would never be able to see each other
again after this!

His eyes were watery, yet he turned around, led his men to the helicopter and left Country F.

Zayn had just finished making love to his bride when he got the news and was stunned for a moment.

“Gone?”

“Yes. Gone with a few of the researchers in the Dark Forest.”

The guard felt it was so wrong to bother Zayn at this time, but the matter was too important that he had
to come and report.

“Has Nicole been informed?”

“Not yet. Mrs. Green seems to have fallen asleep.”

The guard didn’t dare to disturb Nicole’s rest.

Zayn immediately got up and dressed while his wife handed him his car keys, whispering, “Be safe.”

Looking at his new wife, Zayn said guiltily, “I’m sorry. Tonight should have belonged to the two of us,
but…”

“I understand. Something must have happened on Nicole’s side. We as elders can’t be too fussy about
it.”

Her words touched Zayn.



“Thank you, dear.”

Her face blushed, and she lowered her head shyly.

Zayn gave her a kiss and then hurriedly followed the head guard out.

Nicole was surprised when she heard that Zayn had come. She thought she had misheard it, looking at
the time that it was four in the morning. Why had Zayn come over so early?

She quickly got up and realized that she was sleeping on the sofa with her dad’s jacket.

How had she fallen asleep?

Where was Xander?

Had he gone back?

Nicole hung the jacket aside and got up to welcome him, only to see Zayn already walking in.

“Nicole, your dad had left Country F with his men overnight. Do you know what’s going on?”

“What?”

Nicole’s mind was flabbergasted.

She couldn’t help but think of Xander’s strange behaviour this night, and her heart thumped for a
moment.

“Quick, give me the car! I have to go back and see my mother!”

Thinking about what Xander had asked her to do, Nicole became uneasy.

Seeing Nicole’s face changed, Zayn didn’t hesitate to give her the car keys immediately.



Nicole’s driving was good, and she arrived at Audrey’s room in no time. When she saw the letter
Xander had left for Audrey, it gave her more than a twinge of uneasiness.

“Finn, inform the Night Elf and Sky Group’s people to search for my father’s helicopter on the way. I
want to know where he had gone and what was he doing?”

“Sure!”

Finn quickly did what he was told after receiving the order, while Nicole’s hands and feet were a bit
cold.

She suddenly had a bad feeling that she would never see her father again after this.

This feeling made her feel panicky.

She led the people out of Audrey’s room.

Her mother hadn’t woken up after all this noise, and this could only mean that Xander had drugged
Audrey.

She only hoped that she could be faster and stop her father.

Nicole waited anxiously, and the sky was getting brighter.

The news from Finn’s side was that the helicopter had landed outside the border, with no one inside it.
Xander and the others just seemed to have vanished.

The uneasiness in Nicole’s heart intensified.

What was her father up to?



On the other side, after getting off the helicopter, Xander got into two military jeeps with ten other
people and drove quickly towards the country.

They arrived in the Capital City at about ten o’clock in the morning.

It had been decades since they last returned, and the city had changed so much that Xander almost
got lost in it.

Lucas was on leave today and had permission from Mr. Morty to come out to check on something. He
spotted Xander from afar.

How could Grandpa be here?

Lucas was surprised but still walked over quickly.

“Grandpa, why are you back? Has Mummy come back too?”

Lucas’s voice had stunned Xander. He then turned around and saw Lucas.

In fact, he had just seen Lucas a few times, and mainly through video calls. He knew that Lucas was
now in Mr. Morty’s base and was considered one of his men.

Xander felt relief thinking of Mr. Morty.

“Why are you here? No training today?”

Xander was kind instantly when he saw his grandson.

Lucas rubbed the back of his head and said, “I’m off today and came out to investigate something.”

“Investigating Eaton’s matter?”



Xander’s words stunned Lucas, but he couldn’t help but nod when he thought of Xander’s identity.

“Grandpa, it’s been more than a day since my little brother was kidnapped. But now there’s no clues at
all. Even Uncle Morty has no clues. I’m so anxious.”

“I know where he is. Show me the way.”

Xander’s words made Lucas perk up at once.

“Grandpa, you know?”

“I know.”

Xander was calm, but it gave Lucas a great deal of comfort and motivation.

“Grandpa, did you come back for my brother?”

“Yes.”

Lucas was happy instantly.

Ever since his brother had disappeared, Lucas had investigated all sorts of things, but yet he couldn’t
find out anything. However, he didn’t expect that Xander actually knew.

This was simply too exciting for Lucas.

“Where’s Grandpa going?”

“Here.”

Xander gave an address to Lucas.



Lucas froze instantly.

“Grandpa, you want to go this place?”

“Yes. Do you know how to get there?”

“Yes, I know. But that is the Shaffer family’s training ground. Uncle Morty said that we can’t do anything
to the Shaffer family.”

Xander sneered at Lucas’s words.

“Nobody but me! Follow me!”

Xander led Lucas into the car after he finished speaking.

Lucas seemed to have sensed something.

Could it be that his little brother was with the Shaffer family?

He felt angry inside suddenly.

The Green family and the Shaffer family had no enmity, so what were they doing with his brother?

Xander and the others quickly arrived at the Shaffer family’s training ground under Lucas’s direction.

The place was heavily guarded, and it looked frightening.

“Stop right there! Who are you people? This is the Shaffer family’s training ground and no one can
enter without Old Mr. Shaffer’s order!”

The guards immediately stopped Xander’s people.



Xander’s men didn’t say a word but instead reached out directly and snapped the man’s neck, then
threw it out like rubbish.

Lucas was shocked.

What was this all about?

What was Grandpa trying to do?

That was so sassy!

Xander stroked Lucas’s head and said, “Lucas, go back. Don’t tell anyone about coming here today,
nor about seeing me too, okay?”

“Why?”

“Why asking so many questions? Just remember, call Mr. Morty when you get out, and tell him to bring
someone over to pick up Eaton and take him home. Don’t worry about the rest.”

Xander’s eyes were still as kind as ever, but Lucas had a slight feeling of unease.
