"Okay" The driver answered.

The driver started the car and soon drove away from the neighborhood.

Patrick had not returned to the Evans Residence for a long time.

When he received a call from his mother, he agreed to go back for dinner without hesitation.

Although his mother's voice didn't indicate that something was going on, Patrick, as her son, knew that
this was a happy reaction.

Walking out of Evans's building, he saw Sophia bending over to get in the car.

The man in the main driver's seat was Brandon.

Sophia had always been in contact with Brandon, and it seemed that they got along very naturally.

Sitting in the car, Patrick took out his mobile phone and composed a message.

He typed a few words, deleted them, and then typed again.He repeated this a few times before he
eventually gave up and put away his phone.

Patrick was afraid that Sophia would be disgusted.He was also afraid that he would start to have a
weakness.

John liked to chat with people, especially when driving, but Patrick was in a bad mood today.

Patrick looked out of the window, but he was thinking of the curve of Sophia's mouth when she got
inside and sat in another man’s car.

Recently, he thought of her frequently when she walked, when she sat in the car, and even during
meetings.

At the Evans’ Residence...

His mother, Mrs.Evans, was sitting in a wheelchair.Her blindness and many years of paralysis made
her look very thin.

She was looking up as if basking in the sun.

and identify Patrick's footsteps.

"Hmph? You brat, it's good that you still know your way home"

Patrick walked forward and easily pushed his mother's wheelchair into the house.

But when she found out that Patrick was there, she went downstairs in a rush.

"Patrick, Adriana was wearing the latest makeup trending on the Internet and waited the whole
afternoon for Patrick to take a look.Patrick glanced at her, but his face was emotionless.

"Do you see anything different about me today?" Adriana twirled in front of him.

"Is there anything different?" Patrick frowned.

for other things"

"I think so too" Adriana also laughed.

Quentin finished setting up a group of building blocks when he heard the laughter downstairs and ran
down hurriedly, It had been a long time since Patrick returned to the old residence.

Every time Patrick was here, he would only stay for a while, so Quentin did not have time to be with his
dad.He could only watch from afar.

"Dad!" Quentin greeted him.

Patrick patted his head, "Be good!"

Adriana took Quentin’s hand and sat down on one side of the table.



"Grandma, tonight's dishes look delicious!" Quentin exclaimed.

Mrs.Evans was so old, so she was happy as long as the house was lively.

"Then our Quentin will eat more"

"Yes, grandma!" Quentin nodded obediently.

Dinner time passed quickly, and Patrick left with the excuse that he still had business to attend to.

Before he left, he did not forget to remind his mother, "Your health seemed fragile.Don't always go
outside to get fresh air.I will come when I have time"

"I know.You should also pay more attention to your body.Don't just focus on making money, do
something meaningful for yourself"

Patrick glanced at Adriana while listening to his mother.

"I will? Patrick promised.” John drove to the Evans Residence very quickly.

"I said you looked so restless when you went home for a reunion dinner.You called me at just a few
minutes into dinner" Patrick looked at his watch.

It was indeed a little early at six-thirty in the evening.

When John picked him up in the past, it was always eight o'clock.

As John drove, he teased Patrick, "I said something is wrong with you recently!"

"What's wrong with me?"

Patrick lowered his head and rubbed his phone, asking casually.

business trip" Patrick said softly.

John drove while trying to recall when he started to feel strange.

"Wasn't it just you and Sophia on the last business trip?"

John glanced at Patrick through the rearview mirror.

"It couldn't be.Did something happen when you guys were on a business trip in Hillwood City?"

Patrick was editing a text message.

"What could have happened? It was all about business, not a date!"

He read the text message repeatedly and thought it was okay.He sent it out, and it said, [Have you had
dinner?]

He was holding the phone and was getting a little bit excited.He did not know where this feeling of joy
was coming from.Not long after, the phone vibrated.

[I'm eating.]

The other party replied.

[Where?] Patrick texted again.

This time, the other party replied quickly, [I am at the company.We are working overtime.]

"Turn around and go back to the office" Patrick told John and put away his phone.

"Why?" John asked in a surprised tone.



"There is something that needs to be sorted out" Patrick answered flatly.

Sophia was sitting on her desk at the office.She was looking at her mobile phone dazedly.

‘What is going on?’ Sophia mumbled inside.

She felt that Patrick was restraining himself and was ambiguous at times.

That day, he said in the elevator to give him time.

They were separated by a lot of obstacles and by so many people.

How could they still arrive in this situation? She had once thought they would not have any more
interactions.

[Come downstairs.I'm on the basement one.]

She bit her lip and replied, [I still have to work overtime.]

[The boss has approved you to get off work.] Patrick quickly replied.

When she reached basement one, she got into his car hurriedly.She did not want to pretend.

"Patrick, moving forward, I hope that we will only have an employee and employer relationship and
nothing else?” Sophia said.

Patrick drove the car in silence.

"I know that for people like you, you will still feel possessive of me, or maybe for all the women in your
past.Because you saw that she no longer wants to be with you and loves you, but you are still unwilling

Patrick finally broke the silence.

He was right.

Sophia was terrified that she would fall in love with him again.
