They were all adults now, and they understood the principle of not going too far.

Patrick agreed, but he did not relax.

Patrick parked the car outside the restaurant and threw the keys to the waiting valet.

Sophia looked at the shockingly expensive dishes on the menu, and her head began to hurt a little.The

"Please bring us two of your signature dishes and a bottle of 1992 Lafite Rothschild" Patrick ordered
through the waiter.

Patrick raised his eyebrows, "I will drink it myself.I won't force you."

Sophia was slightly relieved, but when she thought of the year and brand of the wine, she thought, ‘It
should be costly, right?’ She smiled bitterly.

She felt like Cinderella, wearing glass shoes who would eventually return to her original form at
midnight.She knew that the social status gap between her and Patrick was huge, and she felt
pressured.She was young and naive enough to think that love conquered all in the past.

Now that she was old enough to think rationally, she felt that her status in life was truly holding her
back.

She felt that she had learned her lesson from the past years.

Sometimes, she wondered, what did it mean to mature? It was growth, perhaps.

Because you knew that you would die from the pain, but you still had to endure that pain and smile.

You still had to try and be brave, because no one would care about what you had experienced in the
past.



Frost ford was a big city with millions of people, so who would care for someone as insignificant as
Sophia?

‘Stop joking around.You are not a little girl anymore” Sophia said to herself.

They sat for a while in silence, and Patrick could not help but take out a cigarette and light up.

Sophia felt that it was fortunate that this was an outdoor dining room.

If they were indoors, it would be inappropriate if he lit a cigarette.

"Did you mean what you said when we were in the car?" Patrick asked.

Patrick suddenly opened his mouth as if he had thought it through.

Sophia nodded and lightly reminded, "Don't forget that you have a fiancee and a child!"

"Who told you that I have a child?" Patrick frowned.

"The last time my mother was hospitalized, and then I ran into you, was it your child who was
hospitalized with a cold?" Sophia asked.

Sophia did not dare to say that she had met Quentin before preparatory school.

If she told him that and he followed the trail back to Emma, she could not imagine his reaction.Patrick
took a puff of smoke and said in a low voice, "His health isn't excellent.He often has the flu."

Patrick looked at her, "You seem to know about children very well"

Sophia smiled, "I have a friend who is a single mother.I sometimes help her out, so I know a little"

She felt that it was already pretty good to push herself to this extent.

When Patrick took Sophia home, he did not say anything else but goodbye.

He watched her walk into the lobby of her building, watched her elevator climb up to her floor.

And when he went outside to smoke, he watched as she turned on the lights on the apartment she was
in.

Patrick stood downstairs for a very long time.



The cigarette box in his car had been empty for a while now.

So he had already smoked so much without realizing it? He was not sure if he was upset or hesitant.

Sophia sat on the chair by the window.

At midnight, his car's engine finally started, and Patrick left.

Why was it that Patrick did not know how to love her five years ago, but now he was reluctant to part
with her? She smiled and felt the irony of the events.

However, she also knew how difficult it was to completely take back a restless heart.

When Sophia woke up, she saw that the sky outside the window was gray and it was raining again.

She sighed.

Jenelyn widened her eyes in surprise, "Which department do you think she was from? Oh my god, you
are truly bold! Vice President Clifford is still in the Evans Group"

"Vice President Clifford also doesn't come here often; her colleague Theresa chimed in, "she won't be
able to see it."

Sophia concentrated on tidying up the documents, and she pretended that she had not heard their
gossip.

At noon, there were meals sent out to their department.

Each of them received a portion, but they noticed some extra ones.

Jenelyn thought about it, "President Evans said before that he wanted to eat a meal from this
restaurant, so he asked us to bring an extra portion when we order”

"Then who's going to bring it to him?"

Sophia's colleague named Theresa said, "I heard that President Evans made a big commotion this
morning.I don't know which part of the project the network engineering department was working on
went wrong, but he talked about it during the meeting”

Her colleague Meredith said, "President Evans rarely makes such a big fuss.It has been a long time
since an issue like this happened"

"Could it be related to the woman who went to President Evan's car yesterday?" Jenelyn lowered her
voice and asked conspiratorily.

"Hey, don't say that.It's quite slick if you think about it"

"That's not right.Do you really believe that there's still a woman that Sir Patrick can't take down?"



Sophia's colleague Meredith retorted.

"You don't know this, but women nowadays are too scheming.They want to play hard to get, do you
understand?" Jenelyn said.

Theresa and Meredith nodded and agreed with what Jenelyn said.

Therefore, the task of delivering food, in the end, fell on Sophia.

Sophia sighed.She didn't know if Jenelyn and the others just exaggerated the news.

Or if she was just in a bad mood.

For now, she just didn't want to get involved.

However, they didn't give her a chance to refute at all.

They all fled to the bathroom together.

They were really a bunch of disloyal colleagues.

When she walked to the door of the president's office with the meal, she struggled in her heart before
finally knocking on the door.
