Kirstine was expressing her honest thoughts.

It wasn't for Patrick's sake that she wanted to get close to Sophia.She genuinely wanted to be friends
with her because she liked her as a person.

It had absolutely nothing to do with him.

Although Kirstine's words seemed unreasonable, there was one thing that Sophia was pleased with.

It was when Kirstine stated that she would not intervene in what was going on between her and
Patrick.She supported and agreed that they should settle the matter amongst themselves.

Sophia liked how things were going at the moment, so she got along and kept communicating with
Kirstine.

Their friendship was simple, natural, and light.

She would not act overly cautious around her because of Patrick.

However, she still feared that Kirstine might misunderstand any words that might come out of her
mouth, and then she would tell it to him.

Sophia was nothing of importance to them.

They were siblings.

Kirstine would naturally favor him.

That fact would not change.

Instead of tiring herself out, Sophia might as well sleep at home.



‘Why would she spend her time and meet with me?’ Sophia thought to herself.

Kirstine had a grasp of Sophia‘s thinking.

Patrick told her before that she and Sophia had a lot in common, especially their personality.

She also thought the same.

Now, it seemed that it was confirmed that they shared the same character based on how she read her.

"Let's go inside! I have a lot of shopping to do; Kirstine muttered excitedly, She was smiling the whole
time like an ideal, warm, and friendly sister.

Observing her, Sophia took a deep breath to make herself look more relaxed around her.

Meanwhile, Kirstine walked over to her and naturally wrapped her arms around Sophia's arm on one
side.

Her embrace was so light and natural.

It was neither too soft nor tight like an old friend having no apprehension or distant attitude towards her.

Kirstine's actions were not forced.

Taking notice of their height, Sophia stood about 5 feet and 3 inches tall, while Kirstine was 5 feet and 5
inches.

Kirstine was slightly taller than Sophia.

Adding Sophia's dislike of wearing high heels and having the same daily routine of playing sports in her
leisure time, her height only reached Kirstine's ear.



So, every time Kirstine looked at her, Sophia felt as if she was being looked down on.

It made her uncomfortable.

‘Perhaps, things or people above us often gives us a feeling that we are being belittled or oppressed,
such as Kirstine, who is a beautiful, tall, and confident woman” Sophia thought to herself.

After entering the mall, Kirstine didn't rush to buy clothes.

Instead, she dragged Sophia straight into the shoe section to make a purchase.

She removed her 10cm high heels and replaced them with a pair of white, thin, and comfortable shoes.

The shoes had a unique shape, and it was the most popular style at the time.

The seven-colored flower embedded in the center of the shoes was the most eye-catching feature of
the pair.

It looked like a shoewear for youths with a fresh and trendy design.

"Miss, you indeed have good taste! This new and trendy shoe model is our store's new arrival.You
know how dynamic Frostford City weather has always been.Even though autumn is about to begin, it

A woman wearing a sales store manager tag said when she approached them.

She did her best to use her sales and communication skills to properly introduce their products and
invite customers like them to purchase something.

noticed Kirstine’s expensive clothing.

She paused for a while and suddenly stared in the door's direction.

They followed her stare.

There was another customer who just pushed the door and walked in.

Some of the other sales representatives welcomed him, but they quickly stopped when the female
sales manager assisting Sophia and Kirstine, who had just finished a sales pitch, warned them.

"Stacey, that's an old customer of mine.Go find someone else."

Kirstine was already tempted to buy this pair of shoes, but when she heard how bad the sales manager
was towards her coworkers, her mood changed sour.

Sophia glanced at Kirstine, and Kirstine also looked at her.

They stood up, and Kirstine said, "Let's go, Sophia!"

It seemed like they had the same thoughts at the moment.

Kirstine smiled and still held her arm.

When the female store manager noticed Kirstine was about to leave, she continued following her from
behind, refusing to give up.

Kirstine didn't say anything until they were far.

"I don't like her bossy attitude.What she did was terrible.Everyone is equal, and no one is born to be
treated indifferently like what she did.An overbearing person like her will have a sad life.How
disappointing’’ she uttered and sighed.

Sophia smiled.She found out that Kirstine and her were indeed alike.Her thoughts were exactly similar
inside her mind just now.

They exchanged smiles as they continued to walk forward.

Kirstine hadn't given any thought to what she wanted to buy.

She thought about the pair she was about to purchase earlier, but she refused to do so.

"Then, how about buying canvas shoes?" Sophia suggested.

"Those shoes aren't tiring and hurtful to wear.The comfort brought to the feet is commendable.Let's try
it?"

"Really? Then, let's go and take a look at it" Kirstine said and nodded.

On cue, the two walked into another footwear store.

Kirstine quickly purchased a pair of white canvas shoes based on Sophia's suggestions this time.

They were plain and didn't have any interesting or fancy patterns, but Kirstine still liked the shoes.



Walking out again, the two of them held hands as they made their way, exploring more into the mall.

When they passed by the first footwear store they had walked in, the sales manager was still
reprimanding her girl coworker for welcoming her old customer without permission.

The girl had her head bowed and hands clasped together, looking like she was being taught a lesson.

When in fact, she shouldn't be bowing her head because welcoming and assisting customers was her
job.

Kirstine couldn't help but take another look at them as they passed by.

The girl's name, Stacey, was the one that the store manager called out the most.

For some reason, she felt it was especially familiar, as if someone had always mentioned it to her.

She couldn't remember anything, so she gave it up and focused on her time with Sophia.

Kirstine purchased two shirts and a pair of pants, while Sophia did not buy anything.

Kirstine wanted to buy her some clothes, but she politely declined her kind offer with a smile.

Kirstine patted the back of her hand and uttered with a smile, "It's just a friendly offer.Let's give and
take.Next time, you can buy me other things, like how I buy you clothes now.We are friends.So, you
don't need to feel like you owe me."

Because Kirstine was older than Sophia, her experience and convincing skills were naturally beyond
Sophia's reach.

She pushed Sophia into the ditch, leaving her no room to disagree with her offer.



Kirstine chose a few outfits for Sophia, while the latter didn't refuse the clothes she chose.

However, that didn't mean she wouldn't refuse her payment.She was stubborn.

Things were different when it came to money, no matter how perfectly Kirstine said it.

But Kirstine was one step ahead of her.She immediately swiped her card and paid for a few clothes she
chose for Sophia.

Sophia bit her lower lip.She felt uneasy, as if she suddenly owed Kirstine many things at the expense of
the paid clothes.

Kirstine noticed it and said, "Sophia, my birthday will be next weekend.

You can return the favor.

Words like calculative and uncomfortable were not in the dictionary between goad friends, right?"

Sophia understood where Kirstine was coming from.She had a point and explained it well, but she still
felt that she owed Kirstine a lot.

When they exited the mall, they carried many shopping bags in their hands.

The sky was already dark, indicating that time had flown by and that it was nighttime.

They were shopping for so long that they had forgotten about the time.

Kirstine looked at the bags in her hands.

Some were for her, others for Patrick, and the rest was for Skyler.She had spent a lot.

She would never forget them whenever she bought something.She always thought of them.

Walking the side of the road with her hands holding the bags, Sophia felt heavy deep inside.

She knew that she was still hesitant and uneasy.

This was not fine to her.

Perhaps she truly owed Kirstine a favor because she accepted the clothes she bought for her.

However, this was the first time she felt that way.

So, Sophia was uneasy.
