If she could be that kind of person, he could have an excuse.

But now that she was like this, he simply had no chance of giving her any information.

At the entrance of the hospital, Sophia got out of the car and stopped by the driver's window side.

She thanked Patrick out of courtesy.

"Thank you for the pair of slippers!"

She wondered that if he had led her directly to the mall to make her buy a new pair of footwear, they
wouldn't end up like this.

Of course, if Patrick did that, then she wouldn't agree.

Unfortunately, he didn't.

Instead, he led her to his sister.

Well, she could clearly see the reason now.

This was indeed more favorable to him than the one she wanted to happen.

Why? Because Sophia and Kirstine were too similar.

Sophia would understand her more than him.

He needed someone to be a bridge right now, and her sister was obviously the perfect choice.

"Why does it seem like he has suddenly become enlightened about this kind of thing? Did someone
give him pointers?’ Sophia wondered.



Patrick opened the car door and got out of the car.

He stood in front of her, face-to-face, and looked her in the eyes.

"Sophia, do you know what the consequences are once a man desires a woman?" He asked with a
serious face.

Why was he asking this? Perhaps, was he trying to say that… he wants her? What was there for him to
want? Her looks were very ordinary.

She was the kind of person that would never stand out.

Maybe it was her body? No, he had already obtained that long ago.

Where was this desire coming from then? Sophia couldn't understand him.

Patrick suddenly felt the urge to smoke, so he went back to the car and lit up a cigarette.

When he turned back to face her again, Sophia's gaze followed the smoke drifting away, passing in
front of his dark and intimidating eyes.

"I don't give a damn about the price” Patrick said, not waiting anymore for her to answer his question.

He was expecting her to be scared of what he said, but she only laughed.

"No matter what the price is, there is nothing you cannot afford’ she said, "you have the money,
authority, and status.It is just easy as moving your fingers if you want a woman.Tell me if I'm wrong"

"Unfortunately, yes, you're wrong."



Patrick paused to puff at his cigarette and exhale the smoke.

"I want that woman to be willing."

Sophia could tell that he drank too much tonight.

This was a meaningless debate.

She took a step back and tried to leave but he immediately caught her wrist and she was pulled back.

It all happened too fast, she didn't have much time to react.

His soft lips touched hers and she felt his right palm holding the back of her head firmly, almost as if he
didn't want to let go.

Something snapped in her mind and her chest felt heavy, She blinked a couple of times, for her eyes
felt painful and bitter.

His kiss went from shallow to deep, and then from deep to shallow again.

His lips brushed against hers tenderly and full of affection, which was extremely inconsistent with his
usually indifferent personality.

The heat of the kiss was scorching but the lips that were touching hers were cold.

The man kissing him was drunk and she was completely sober.

Suddenly, Patrick felt her protesting against him.He didn't even flinch, maybe because of the alcohol,
but he only knew that he didn't want to let her go at this moment.He didn't want to stop.

Not until he felt a warm liquid when he touched her face, and so he slowly ended the kiss.



Their lips parted with several silver threads between them.

She felt him lean down to rest his forehead against hers, and his hands touched her face to wipe away
her tears.

Sophia's eyes were shut and the only thing she could hear was his breath, which was slightly erratic.

"That night, in Hillwood City” Patrick said.

"Do you know why I managed to control myself from touching you?"

Sophia slowly opened her eyes and looked at his frowning delicate face which was very near to hers,
their noses were almost touching.

Looking again into her eyes, they seemed to ask him, ‘didn't you say that you were afraid of wronging
me?’

Patrick didn't break eye contact when he continued to say, ‘Afraid of wronging you is one aspect.I
remember when we first rented a room in Australia, you told me not to touch you if there was already a
woman that owns either my heart or body because I wouldn't be a complete person by then.But there
was no one who owned either of the two at the time.I touched you since no one owned either my heart
or body back then.Not even Adriana."

"But it's different in Hillwood City, Patrick continued.

"I was already engaged to Adriana.No matter from which angle you look at it, it was inappropriate that
you gave yourself to me that night"

Sophia understood what he said.

Once there was physical contact between men and women, their feelings would definitely change.



Especially women.

Every time they fall for a man, it was not different from their first times.

The feeling of ecstasy from spending the night and connecting bodies would never be forgotten.

If she really wanted the man, his touch would be etched in the deepest recesses of her heart and mind.

firing you.I thought about it.When you first entered Evans Enterprise, I thought that I wouldn't mind and

realized that I wanted to get close to you again.If you're not in my sight, I would feel empty.I would miss



you so much that I couldn't focus on my work anymore.I couldn't keep myself busy.Otherwise, I would
end up thinking about you."

Patrick paused to take a deep breath and then continued, "However, I knew that you were better than
me in this aspect.When it comes to feelings you always deal with them neatly and decisively.I thought
about that and did not dare to act rashly.

"But just as you said, it seemed that you no longer love me.I was indeed unwilling and uncomfortable
but in my heart, I knew it wasn't just that"

"As I told you, I have been thinking carefully about all of these.I realized that in my heart, I am terribly
afraid.I'm afraid of what would happen to me if I didn't manage to get you back.Please forgive me,
Sophia.For asking you to come back, despite all that happened between us in the past.Please
understand that I am being sincere here."

He practically begged her but Sophia was too stunned to speak.

Then, he carefully examined her face before saying, "There will be a celebration for the company's
tenth anniversary.After that, I can take a few days off and go back to Australia.Will you come with me?"

Sophia met his gaze but remained silent.

He gulped.

"We could talk about everything that has happened five years ago and we'll share whatever burden you
have inside, okay?"

Frostford City was rich, and it was here where the Evans family ruled.

The world envied him for being affluent and the most successful man in town.



However, they did not know that he could also be helpless.

There were many people that were far more capable than him.

He wasn't the best at everything.

In the business world, any careless mistake would consign him to eternal damnation.

Sophia wanted a bit of time to think about it first.She tried to push him slightly but he did not allow her
to move one bit.

His hands tightly restrained her.

She could do nothing but glare at him.

Patrick saw it but he merely smiled and kissed her forehead with the softest touch, like a dragonfly
skimming the surface of the water.



Although her thoughts were all over the place, she still tried to summarize the meaning of his words
earlier.

He meant that he did not love Adriana.

All these years, he made himself busy with work.

When she came back from abroad, he thought that he could face her without any problem.

However, he did not expect that things would go out of control because of Finn and that necklace.

After that interaction, he realized that he was still madly in love with her and no matter how hard he
tried, he was never able to forget her.

Now, he was asking for forgiveness? He wanted her to come with him to Australia and listen to his
explanation about what happened five years ago?
