Chapter 54

After a long time, Brandon slowly opened his mouth.

"Sophia, can you help me? There is this woman who always pesters me.She hovers around me
helplessly that I don't even know what to do about her’ Sophia was surprised by what he said because
she had known Brandon for a very long time.

He grew up with her, and they were childhood friends.

They were as good as families.

Although Sophia knew that Brandon was modest and often low-key, he had been in the business world
for a long time and had learned many ways to refuse excessive demands.

With his years of experience, a woman shouldn't pose that much of a problem to Brandon.

But still, since Brandon was her friend, she decided to believe and remind him at the same time.

"Who is it? If you are tired of her, you can tell her directly that you do not like her, and tell her to stop
bothering you again, Sophia told Brandon.

Sophia continued.

help.Keep this up and you will become but a prisoner of your heart, Sophia added.While Brandon and
Sophia were talking, another private room door opened.On the other side of the corridor, the door was
opened by a tall man.He walked towards the elevator entrance and guessed that the woman he was
looking for would be there.Back to Brandon and Sophia...

Brandon smiled sincerely, but there was bitterness in his smile.

"Are you still unwilling to give me a chance?" Sophia shook her head.

It was not that she did not want to give him a chance because she did not like him.

It was because she still had Patrick in her heart, and her heart still wasn't ready to accept anyone else.

She was afraid that she would only bring her despair if she gave him hope.She did not have many
friends in her life, and there were fewer friends she could talk to.

So she wanted to cherish Brandon's friendship for many years.She did not want to lose him if they did
not work out.

"I'm sorry" Sophia felt a little guilty.



Sophia knew that she was only twenty-seven years old, however, it seemed as if she had already

Her journey so far had been long and exhausting.

Brandon looked at her in pain.

Suddenly, she was pulled into his arms forcefully.Her breath was taken away.

Brandon's warm lips pressed against her lips, and she could feel the hotness of his breath.

Sophia was shocked and was not able to react immediately.

She was utterly stunned by the overwhelming power of the man in front of her.

Immediately afterward, Sophia felt anxious.

From the day she knew Brandon, he had the image of a perfect gentleman.

He smiled a lot, and when he smiled, two shallow dimples would appear on his cheeks, bringing
additional warmth to his already excellent personality.

So, whenever his name was mentioned, the words ‘modest, low-key, peaceful, and warm’ would pop
up in her memory and they almost became his signature features.

But who would have thought that that same man would imprison her in his arms and would kiss her
fiercely like what he was doing right now? Sophia recovered her senses.

She struggled and was finally able to push Brandon away from her.



"Brandon, stop!"

Her eyes were red, but she held back her tears.

Sophia stood up and quickly walked to the corner.She wanted to hurry back to the private room, but
she saw Patrick standing at the corner of the elevator.She didn't know how long he had been standing
there.

'Did he see what happened just now?’ Sophias asked herself.

She didn't have the time to think about it, nor did she care whether he saw it or not.She just wanted to
escape.

Sophia ran quickly.

It was as if a beast was chasing her.

When she arrived at the private room, she gasped for breath.

A few of the executives of the Smith Group were enjoying themselves, one of them hugging two
beautiful women and playing with their alcohol.

Whoever lost had to gulp the entire glass of alcohol.

Sophia wiped her mouth.She could still taste Brandon's kiss in her mouth.

Patrick saw Sophia's reaction who had just entered the room.

She looked over, and her eyes met his.

There was no emotion on his face as if he had not seen anything a moment ago.



Patrick strode back to the sofa and sat down.

Then, he lit a cigarette and took a few puffs.He went back to the same posture he was in before she
left.

Occasionally, he would talk to the executives about random things.

The party ended at two in the morning.

Several executives were drunk, and some were already unconscious.

Patrick called someone assigned to this task beforehand and helped them back to the hotel.

Sophia followed behind him and walked out of the venue.

He did not speak, nor did Sophia.

The two walked to the side of the road, and Leroy, Patrick's driver, appeared.

Sophia and Patrick got in the car.

She looked outside the window the whole car ride.

Patrick looked tired, and he did not want to talk.

Until the car stopped at the entrance of Sophia's building, Patrick didn't speak.

He remained silent the whole time.

Sophia unbuckled her seat belt and wanted to say goodnight, but when she saw his gloomy face, she
simply stayed quiet.If she spoke, it would only make him uncomfortable.



Thus, it was better not to speak.

After getting out of the car, Sophia walked quickly to the stairs and climbed up the seventh floor.

After entering her house, she changed into her slippers and walked to the window.

The car was nowhere to be seen.

It was nice that Patrick followed what they talked about.

After a simple shower, she lay on the bed, and Sophia's frantic heart finally calmed down a little.

She closed her eyes and told herself, ‘Everything is now over.”

Tomorrow will be a bright and beautiful day! The next day at work, Sophia arrived at the General
Manager Office when Jenelyn pulled her over.

From her expression, Sophia deduced that something significant had happened.

"Sophia, help me with something, please, Jenelyn said, her voice somewhat choked.” Sophia patted
her back nervously.

"Okay.What is it?"

Jenelyn nodded and said slowly, "Last night, I fought with my boyfriend.It was a fierce fight.We have
been together for three years, and this is the first time this happened to us.I thought it was just a simple
fight where we would admit our mistakes and apologize to each other afterward.I did expect him to call,
but he said he wanted to break up.I can't...I can't bear to part with him!"

"So, Sophia, can you help me by attending the company's daily meeting in a while? These are the
notes that I have prepared.It will help if you familiarize yourself with it, and there shall be no problem at
all.I want to take a personal leave and ask him what he meant by what he said"
